"Should I tone it down so you can keep up, monkey?"
Andy and her daughter had moved to a new neighborhood 5 weeks before Halloween and, not feeling like cooking, Andy had gone to this greasy hole of a fast-food restaurant. This will be second and first, meaning you, your, and your + I, me, my, my, we, our, and us will be used.
I.
The sizzling smell of meat being flipped while the room was packed with conversations that meant nothing to me; the air hung with the joy of mouth-watering stench that seemed to hold the room together, and maybe I'll smell like a grease trap for a day or two, but that did not stop me from entering. My head was buzzing with overstimulation and I tried to focus on the menu as the scattering shouting of children and the laughter of drunken men broke my concentration. The menu was limited to a few sandwiches and sides. "Double cheese? No, way too much cheese. How about a regular hamburger? Ugh, too plain." I furrowed my eyebrows thoughtfully. It was best to find a seat. I found a nice, cozy spot right at the counter. I hurried over as fast as I could to grab what I thought was 'comfortable': a seat, I sighed; were restaurants this exhausting normally? Who knew it could be so nerve-wracking? "Hey! Welcome to Boy's N' Grills," a deep voice rang out in my mind - snapping me out of my thoughts as a man in a Boy's N' Grills uniform stood behind the counter. I took advantage of the time to get a good look at his appearance. His hair peeked messily out of his hat, he had a substantial build and a smile that seemed to be on his face too much. They thought it was all really cute, "You do not look familiar, are you the new person who just moved in?" He tilted his head as he spoke. I WAS new - I just moved into a pretty big house two days ago and I am not done packing because I own a lot of stuff. "Yes, I am. I needed a fresh start and my daughter mentioned that her old friends have moved and they like it here. You have to start somewhere!" They chuckled softly. His grin widened even more, "Glad to have you here. I am Bob," he put his arm in front of you and offered a handshake. "My name is Andy!" You take his hand in yours and shake it. You blush as you pull your hand back. His hand is soft and you wonder how soft his hugs would be.
II.
As you walked through the streets, you felt like you were being watched, but immediately forgot about it when you saw a candy shop that you entered to buy something for your daughter. "Omg! Kevin!" The man behind the counter woke up to the shouting and saw you. "Wait! Andy?!" He called your name in response, ran up to you and you hugged. "How's it going with Hysteria, little sister?" He asked me, "I can not say I am not her, but she's been a little rebellious lately. She got expelled from her last school and I could not afford the others, so we moved here." Replied. "Oh, tell her that Uncle Keke will not give her anything for Christmas if she does not behave!" He replied, "Okay, Uncle Kéké, I'll tell her!" and we laughed as he went back behind the counter. I grabbed a handful of her favorites and some lollipops for myself and placed them on the counter. "Only because I have not seen you in four years since I moved out. You can have it for free as long as you give me some of those famous homemade chocolate chip cookies!" (Andy is 21 and Kevin is 25), and handed them to me. "Thank you, Kev. I'll bring them to you in a day or two?" He smiled at my response. "That reminds me, you should own a bakery! There's a building for sale across the street, you should check it out soon. Maybe tomorrow we can visit it together with Hysteria!" He offered, making me beam with excitement. "That sounds great! I'll call you tomorrow about it!" You said as you walked out the door, once again admiring the cool walk home while eating some candy.
