Twenty-Three

And leave you did,
for love has failed,
and there you hid,
in oars that sailed.

Despite the cold,
of pain now old,
you pushed and went,
with bows I bent.

I guess that's just,
how hurt you were,
by empty pasts,
you shared with her.

And there I was,
in times of need.
Your blood I washed,
in times you bleed.

But where was love?
Still gone, it seemed,
The one I hoped,
The one I dreamed.
