After the fact, he very swiftly pulled away, waving as he disappeared into the thicket, and leaving you alone once again. At least this time you were only a few steps away from assuaging your worry, the confines of your home right behind you.
Though the comfort wasn't there right away.
Walking into your home, it was completely silent, Sun was probably already locked up in your room, which you had already made clear you were opposed to the idea. But your mom said it was for the best, as the dog barely had a chance to be domesticated before you made the decision to adopt it. Still, every time Sun ran away, it was clear that it was your attempt to let him roam free.
You made your way through the pitch black hallways, the AC that automatically turned on after 9:00 pm running throughout the rooms made you yearn for a blanket. Your room was pitch black too, so you flipped the light switch beside your door to brighten up the room. Your dog was already asleep, but it rose its head due to the sudden change of lighting.
You apologized while shrugging off your bomber jacket.
"Sorry buddy, did I wake you up?"
Sun slowly rested his head back onto your mattress, his eyes closing into creases almost immediately after. You laughed when he refused to let anything ruin his sleep.
You covered the dog with your bomber jacket as a temporary blanket and replaced your shirt with a more loose one, your warm and thermal pants changed into shorts, your uncovered arms and legs you could cover with any spare blankets laying around the room. It was still freezing during the nights, but by now you had gotten used to it, taking precautions to make it tolerable.
A year ago when you had covered all the vents in your room with the thin cooking tinfoil you found in the kitchen cabinet. It obviously didn't work, but you just replaced all that work with an obscene amount of blankets hiding in every nook and cranny so you could take one when most convenient.
Thanks to the multitude of blanketed easement, your bed looked so comfy that you swan dived into it, immediately making yourself comfortable. You glanced at the clock on your bedside table. 11:30 pm.
You suggested to yourself that you should finally let yourself rest, but groaned with discontent as your light was still on. You couldn't bare to go to sleep with the bright flame shining through your eyelids. Someone needed to go shut it off. That someone being you.
You quietly whined to yourself as you slid off the bed.
When you reached the light switch, finger ready on the top to flick it down, you saw something through the window.
Something that wasn't right.
It was green. The same green you had seen looking into the eyes of the saucer. The same green that paralyzed you to your very core.
You thought it had finally left, and yet you saw it much closer this time descending from above, giving the sky a green tint around it. Your eyebrows raised in suspicion as the bright light continued to fall so agonizingly slow towards the ground. They only raised further once it vanished behind the thick branches of pine trees. Not even ten seconds after it vanished, the ground seemed to bellow with discontent. Your legs wobbled at the sudden change in groundwork, you were just barely able to grab onto your bedroom door handle once you at last lost your balance.
