eddie munson x fem!reader / friends to lovers!

Eddie Munson's got a crush on his best friend, and he knows just want to get her for Christmas. (takes place in 1983 + eddie's first senior year + y/n has bangs since it's the 80s and it's pretty much law to have bangs)

83' flew by in a flash.

Eddie Munson couldn't believe he was already halfway done with his senior year, almost done with high school completely.

1983 had been a good year for him. His grades got better after Wayne got on his ass for it, and his hair had finally grown past his shoulders so it wasn't in an awkward stage anymore.

But for Eddie Munson, the best thing that came out of 83' was you.

At the beginning of the second semester of Eddie's junior year, you had transferred from your old school in Indianapolis to Hawkins. Being a grade below him, you were in the middle of your sophomore year in a completely new school.

Eddie remembers the first time he saw you. He had been half asleep in his AP English class (because even if he wasn't the best at every subject he was a damn good writer), when you had walked in. Face fresh and nervous looking as you stood in the doorway, asking the teacher in the sweetest voice he has ever heard if you were in the right room.

"Miss Y/N, correct?" to which you nodded.

Y/N.

You looked straight out of a dream, Eddie thought. The pink tweed skirt you wore flared at your hips, and helped pronounce your waist where a black scoop necked long sleeve was tucked into the waistband. The black tights you wore helped little to add warmth from the unforgiving Indiana winter, and the black Mary Jane's you wore looked brand new, possibly a Christmas present. Your hair was parted in the middle, held back on each side by some bobby pins, and Eddie couldn't help but think you looked like someone straight out of Grease.

Well, if Grease had taken place in the 80s.

"Well Miss Y/N, you can take a seat in front Mr. Alex in the back." the teacher had told you, gesturing for Alex to raise his hand to lead you his way.

Eddie's heart stuttered in his chest. Alex was one of his closest (and only) friends and sat in the row over him in front of the war, leaving you to sit in the open seat before him.

Next to Eddie.

It's fine, it's fine, she probably won't even acknowledge you anyway, Eddie had thought to himself, watching from the corner of his eye as you took a seat next to him and said a polite hello to Alex.

The class continued on, whispers heard all across the room about the pretty new girl who had been seat with the freaks in the back, every jock and cheerleader in the room holding sympathy in their eyes as they looked at you.

The lesson has ended shortly after with about ten minutes of class time left for the students to do as they pleased. Eddie had immediately turned to Alex, narrowly avoiding eye contact with you.

"Hey we still on for tonight? Wayne's not coming back till tomorrow morning so I can be out late if we run longer than usual." Eddie spoke as he watched Alex put his things away.

"Yeah, just need to transport my equipment, but my brother said he'd do it as long as I take over his chores this week so I'm good." Alex had responded.
