"While we were touring America, I took a photocopied picture of Audrey Hepburn everywhere we went. I had been in love with Audrey ever since me and my sister watched her in Two for the Road, a film with Albert Finney.

We loved her purely for her sunglasses and outfits.

She was very beautiful but also sweet and kind of awkward. She suited the person I thought I was at the time.

But my thoughts about women like Audrey Hepburn remained in the realm of aesthetics, even sculpture. When I think about the female form, it's something other than sexual attraction. For me, it's about observing proportions, shape and how the face is put together.

In the history of art there have been thousands of sculptures inspired by particular areas of the female body - the lower back or the spot where the hip begins to extend from the waist. That's why many artists, such as Degas and Picasso, were obsessed with ballet and dance.

So my relationship with Audrey was purely aesthetic."
