Chapter Forty-One

Start from the beginning

We eventually pulled into a parking lot, Shota was quick to get out, I assumed it was because we were a bit late but when I went to open my door my hand met nothing, I looked to see Shota stood there. One hand was held out towards me as the other had a hold on the open door. Shota chuckled and moved his hand to mine, taking hold of it to then help me stand up out of the car. Once I was stood he closed my door and began to speak “We best get moving, we're already late.” I nodded but as I followed by his side, he stopped, letting go of my hand to go in his pocket, he brought out his phone that had Hizashi's face on the lit up screen. Shota pressed the green button and just held it in front of him, but I noticed that it wasn't on speaker. However, as I went to speak I heard Hizashi loud and clear, whether through the phone or the night air was a different question.

“Shota, where are you? It's pretty lousy of you to recommend a place and not be here on time to reveal where this hole in the wall is. Unless you're taking us to a villain hideout, after all I do not know a bar that will allow someone under 20 to enter. Either way, that's so not cool bro!” Shota let out a breath and waited a few seconds before lifting the phone up a bit “If you let me talk you could have saved your breath and everybody's eardrums... Y/n bumped into a friend as we were making our way to the car so we got put behind schedule, but we're close by now.” He lowered the phone again as an even louder reply was heard “Cool!” Before the beep of the call being ended. Shota groaned and put his phone away again, then turning his head to me “Come on, hopefully those lot aren't miles away.” I nodded and followed after him.

I was hoping that the bar we were going to had heating because it was only just the start of spring, so the air was warmer than it had been in recent months but because it was night the temperature had dropped slightly. Shota then pulled me closer by putting his arm around my waist “When I saw you I did think you were forgetting what time of year it was.” I let out a breath through my nose but decided not to make a retort as I didn't want him moving away and therefore removing the heat he provided. “You can have my jacket when we get back to the car.” I quickly turned my head to look at him “Why didn't you offer me that before we left the car?” He chuckled and shook his head “Oh Kit, if I had done that then I wouldn't have reason to hold you close!” I turned away as heat rose up onto my cheeks. I saw the others up ahead and asked “What is with the baby fox nicknames? Earlier Nemuri called me cub and now you're calling me kit.”

“Well, you are the youngest faculty member now.”

“So you call Chiyo resident?” He laughed, the others looked over in shock and I turned to him with the same emotion. I'd heard him chuckle and huff, but never laugh. He stopped as we made it over to the others “No, I think that'd be considered insulting and a quote on one's headstone if they were to use it.” Nemuri just looked at me until everyone was looking over at Hizashi as he cried and then practically jumped towards me to bring me into a hug “You fixed Shota! You fixed him!” Shota then grumbled and Nemuri jokingly cheered “Now he's back, so come on, let's get in this bar and have some fun!”

To my surprise there was no one at the door to check ID, but either way it allowed me to enter the bar that was almost invisible from the outside, the inside not standing out much either. Lights hung from the cieling and light music played in the background. We walked over to the booths that were cushioned seats in a u-shape, a table sat in the centre. We all got sat down, some teachers moving across to another booth, but I was just happy to be sat next to Shota and near Nemuri who sat next to Hizashi. However, Nemuri soon got up and went over to the bar. I looked to Shota and he placed his hand on my knee “We pretty much all drink beer, nothing to crazy, unless Hizashi decides he can drink someone under the table, or someone starts taking shots.” I nodded.

“How many will you be having?” He leaned down and kissed my cheek “Only the one, I have to drive you home. Also, 1-As alliance is the last place you'd want to be with a hangover.” I nodded “Has dadzawa been helping them move stuff?” He rolled his eyes “That nickname, and no. I've been having to look after Eri.” I nodded. He rubbed his thumb back and forth on my bare knee “She's unsure about moving away from campus, but I wasn't expecting anything different, it's the only place she's felt safe in to her memory.” I nodded again before turning my head to look at him “How often will we get to see eachother?” He smiled and pressed a kiss to my forehead “I'll make sure we see eachother, don't you worry.”

Nemuri eventually came back with a tray that was filled with pints of beer, Hizashi stood and helped placing them onto the tables, Nemuri going back to the bar to bring back another tray, she then placed a glass in front of me “And a coke for our little cub!” The other members of staff clapped and I moved my hand to Shota's, threading my fingers through the gaps between his as the attention sent my cheeks red. I bowed my head and Shota chuckled “There's high expectations for you, after all, most of us have taught you at some point. Don't let that get you down though!” I looked at him and he gave a small smile that helped my nerves settle.

That's when someone cleared their throat, we all turned to see a man wearing black trousers, white shirt, and black jacket. “Sorry to disrupt what seems to be a celebration but my bartender doesn't feel that one of you is of age to be drinking, which I'd assume to be you with the drink choice.” He was looking straight at me, Nemuri spoke up, catching his attention “Well, she's eating for two so sadly she can't join in on the celebration but she can enjoy us making a fool out of ourselves!” The man looked back to me and Shota sighed “Kayama, lying will only get us kicked out. Yoshida, you'd be correct, she's 18 but I can promise you that she won't be consuming any alcohol.” The man's eyes glanced up slightly and a wide smile covered his face “Aizawa, it's good to see you again! I've never seen you with anyone before, she must be very special!” I looked to Shota who was looking over at the man, he nodded “She definitely is.” I looked back over to the man to see him nodding “Of course, well I'm sorry for disturbing you all. You may continue!” He walked away and I turned back to Shota.

“How did you know him?” He picked up his beer and took a mouthful, swallowing it he looked at me “I was in here one night when two morons decided to have a brawl, the people with them attempted to separate them but they began using their quirks so like any normal person would, they stopped trying. To prevent the bar from being destroyed I used my quirk and capture weapon.” I nodded.

Our tables filled the bar with conversation, the handful of people that also entered adding to the noise but only by a bit. I decided to look around at the decor, only to see a face on the wall, a very familiar face. I made out I hadn't seen him and leaned my head onto Shota's shoulder, then whispering “Do you want to head back?” I shook my head and whispered back “There's someone watching me.” I discreetly pointed and laughed quietly, he chuckled and kissed the top of my head “This place sure does have some questionable decor.” I hummed and smiled.

“Sho... How come none of the others have questioned our relationship?” Nemuri then turned to look at me from having an argument with another teacher about her teaching position “Sweetie, Shota isn't as caring with us as he is with you. We ask about his personal life and we may as well talk to a brick wall-”

Toshinori then spoke up “Or we get some sort of retort.” Nemuri hummed. “Everyone just learnt to let Shota be, well aside from me and Hizashi but we knew him way back when!” I looked to Toshinori and he gulped down the swig of coke he put in his mouth “I... I questioned his means of teaching... Thought he was being too hard on our future heroes.” I heard Shota scoff, Hizashi patted Toshinori's shoulder “Probably best if you stop talking mate, he might be more relaxed with Y/n here but I don't think that'll stop him from throwing a hefty insult your way.” Nemuri hummed before pointing at Toshinori with her thumb “He's been trying to make amends since then.”
