I step away from the door. I quickly go and lean on the wall. I start acting like I wasn't trying to listen in. Less than fifteen seconds later the commander comes out with Gavin following behind him. They walk out into the hallway. When they see me they look surprised.
"Oh! Hello, Xenix," the Commander says.
"Hello Commander, I need to talk to you," I say quietly.
"Okay. Give me one minute. I need to finish talking with Gavin,"he says as he walks past me.
I slide down the wall and sit down. I look over at Gavin and glare at him. In return he gives me one of his very own death glares. I ignore him. I sit in front of a vent so I can cool down. The last couple of days have been really hot. I watch the Commander walk away with Gavin. I stare at the blank white and gray wall in front of me.
A couple minutes later the Commander comes back without Gavin. It is now just him and I.
"Please, come sit in here," he says as he motions towards his office.
I stand up, and I steady myself on my feet. I walk into his office and I sit down on one of the black chairs next to his desk. He walks in behind me and sits down on the other side of his desk. He positions himself so that he is in a comfortable position.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" he asks me while pulling out a pen from one of his desk drawers.
"I wanted to talk to you about my paycheck," I tell him cautiously.
"I already payed you last week, and no I am not giving you a raise," he says sternly while he irritatingly clicks his pen top.
"No it's not about that. It is Thursday, over half of the week," I tell him trying to stall him.
"Yes, go on," he urges me.
"I was wondering if you could give me my paycheck now for this week," I blurt out.
"And how would this benefit me?" he says as he crosses his legs and sticks his pen in his mouth.
"Well, if I have to then I will give up my pay till Saturday, so I wont have any pay from today to Saturday" I say staring at the floor.
"Okay, well I will think about it. You are dismissed," he replies, shooing me away.
"Okay, thank you sir, and by the way I need to tell you about a girl I saw in a dream last night. She had red hair and was around my age, and I was wondering if you know anyone like that," I ask him cautiously seeing if this is a possible lead.
"No, I have never seen her but if I do I will tell you," he says reassuringly.
"Okay, thanks anyway," I say as I head out the door.
I turn the corner and I walk down the halls to head to my room. When I enter the room I see all of the boxes I still have to unpack. I walk over to some boxes and I start unpacking them.
The first box that I start unpacking is full of shirts. I pick up the big brown box of cardboard and I take it over the my dresser. While I unpack my things, I don't bother making everything nice and neat. I mash each of the shirts into their own little ball and I shove them into the drawer. When I am finished with that I then do the same thing with my pants, jeans, underwear, and socks.
I started feeling tired after I unpacked all the the boxes of clothes. I lay down on my bed and I turn on the TV. I watch the TV for a little while until I have regained my strength. When I finally do I still don't get up. I just sit on my bed. Even though I do have all my strength back my body and my mind are still tired from the long day that I have had. I lay down and I try to go to sleep. The sleep that I so desperately want does not come. I sit awake for about a half hour trying to go to sleep before I realize that it's just not going to happen. I grab my phone out of my pocket where I had kept it, and I pull it out and I start doing research about the girl that I had seen in my dream. The next thing I know I feel a horrible pain in the back of my head. Then I see darkness.
