"Welcome!"
Y/n thanked the owner after he greeted her then began wandering around, eyeing up everything and smelling all the candles that sounded interesting. She listened to the buzz of the fan, her eyes falling onto a certain shelf. Perfumes and colognes. Perfect. She made her way over and started attacking her senses with those as well. Vanilla perfume, lavender perfume, tropical perfume. Minty cologne, cannabis cologne, and so much more that she fell in love with. She grabbed a tiny perfume bottle that suited her desire then at the corner of her eye she noticed one of those racks that spin with necklaces on each little bar. She figured she'd give it a glance.
Everything looks so cute. She grinned as she saw different little dog tags with custom punched-in symbols, words and other things. Then one thing caught her eye. It was a dog tag with a soccer ball pounded into the thin metal. She smirked as her mind only fell to one thing.
...
"Just this today, ma'am?" The man asked, looking down at her perfume and necklace, meeting her gaze once more.
Y/n nodded her head. "Just those please."

Another day passed and the day was almost over. It's been day four in Las Almas, and it would have been close to unbearable if the Gonzalez family hadn't taken in Veil like their own. Y/n made her way down the familiar path to the safehouse, the necklace in her pocket. As expected, she still didn't have any information. If anything this was the most boring mission she's been on so far. Well... Soap helped with the excitement.
Faint lights emerged from the windows of the safe house, indicating that Soap was expecting her. Anxiety and anticipation bubbled in her chest, her hand grazing the outline of the tag in her pocket. Maybe he would find this weird. Yeah, she barely knew him and she bought him a gift?Y/n had to force her uncertainty down as she opened the door, her eyes going straight back to the place she saw him last time. Their eyes met.
"Anything?" Soap questioned. Oh right, she almost forgot he was here for work. Today he seemed a bit on edge, she was expecting him to bring up their last conversation right away, but he just asked a single word.
She shook her head, closing the door behind herself. "No... sorry. I promise I can see progress, though. I think tomorrow they're gonna move me inside the building- I overheard." Man did she feel so useless just coming here and chatting with him about random stuff, but this was only her second time seeing him here. It was every other night she had come here, though, so that should be enough of an excuse to have something to give. She watched as his eyes flickered away from her figure for a second.
"Alright... I guess we can talk again, but next time give me something to report back." Soap said.
Y/n almost felt her heart drop, disappointment lining up in her stomach from his response, but it was expected. "Is everything okay? You seem uneasy." Might as well be straight up.
He perked up to her concern, looking at her face with a new look. He almost looked shocked and then guilty. "Oh- sorry, I'm just fine enough. We got a new person in today and she has been annoying the hell out of me."
Y/n nodded in understanding, trying to think of something nice to say as she stared at his face, then it hit her. "Oh- here, maybe this can be a little pick-me-up." She pulled out the necklace, holding it out to him between their space.
Soap took a few steps and grabbed it, studying it with his eyes. "You got this for me?" He questioned, using his thumb to brush over the soccer symbol. He looked up at her with a wide smile, which meant he liked it.
"Yeah... it was the first thing I saw that reminded me of you. Just so you know I appreciate your time."
Soaps expression softened, glancing at the little gift again before grinning ear to ear. "That's really thoughtful of you," He stated matter-of-factly. "What was the label for it at the store?"
"... Just be grateful for it..."
"Football, right?"
"Just be grateful for it, Soap."
Time passed by quickly and the two just talked about life; their families, backgrounds, favorite animal, everything, and anything that came to mind. Soon enough Soap watched Y/n begin her trip back to the Cartel and made his way back to the car. This time Alejandro and Rodolfo were in the car waiting, so he hopped in.
"So?" Alejandro questioned as Soap entered.
"Not this time. Next time she is confident she will have something, though."
Alejandro raised an eyebrow, "You two are really close for coworkers if you spend every minute with her to get no information for our job. Have you been friends before this mission?" Once Soap denied both being close and his question, Alejandro scoffed. "Right... I think she likes you. You like her?"
"What? Come on, nothing like that."
Alejandro and Rodolfo shared a look.
Rodolfo took his turn to speak, "You two are working hand in hand in this... maybe both metaphorically and physically, yeah?" He smiled when Alejandro cheered him on and patted his shoulder after saying that. What a dad saying and reaction.
