6 : The exit is not that way

Marie was sleeping in a room allotted to her by Lily. Lily gave her the room in the same house as she was living in to know if she had any other motive and to observe her living patterns. 

Lily exited the bathroom and entered her room. She laid down on the bed thinking of the conversation she had with Marie earlier, trying to pick up any habit which would be called normal here.

Earlier today~

"Woah! You cleaned this whole place?! Impossible! By yourself? Impossible..."

Lily was used to such compliments so she didn't react much and kept going further but a hand stopped her.

"Umm.. I mean... you.. uh... Don't get mad, ok?" 

Marie looked at Lily for confirmation but Lily stared back blankly without giving a reply.

Marie waved her hand in front of Lily's eyes. 

"Hellooo? Lily? Are you listening?"

Lily's eyes followed the other's hand movement before replying. "

Yes. I am. You can continue."

 "Then.. you wouldn't get angry if I say something out of line, right?"

Lily folded her arms.

"You are asking this because you will be saying something out of line so just prepare for the consequence too." 

"Uh... then... let it be." 

Then Marie continued walking. Lily followed along.

"The exit is not that way. Follow me." 

Lily directed her towards the exit.

When they reached the exit, Marie looked totally lost and hopeless.

"Ok. I will say my mind. I am sorry if you think I am taking advantage of you... but can I join you as a team? Pleaseeeee?"

Then she quickly explained herself further.

"I have been seeing that people form teams with the strangers they get along with to survive in these difficult times. Can we do the same?"

Lily stared at the moist, pleading eyes of the girl not more than 20 years of age. The other looked for a positive answer desperately. The gears of Lily's brain began to work. 

'She must be trying to form a team in such a situation to survive from these zombies. The girl looks young and is alone. Earlier while being chased by the zombies, she was considerably good at running and avoiding but that was because I had eradicated a huge mass of them and she came so close to my territory. 

Seeing her lively personality, she must have a lot of people close to her but now she is alone. Either she had been kicked out or she had betrayed them. If I accept, I need to keep a close eye on her for a while.

If I take her in as my team, she could give me information about this world and if there are other people who have travelled here like me or if all the people are transmigrated here to begin with. I will also be able gain information on how to use the things from this world and how everything became like thi-'

Lily's thoughts were interrupted by Marie's intervention.

"Is it impossible to take me as a team? I am not as useless as I seemed to be today. I am considerably good at running and fighting zombies. I also have some experience in killing zombies. I may not be as good as you but I am still good than the girls my age I have met till now."

Lily waited a moment before replying, rethinking her decision.

"Okay." 

Before Marie could cheer or say anything, Lily continued.
