Will shrugged. "Radiation is still a... delicate topic in Japan and most of the world, in fact. Even if my Quirk can't cause cancer or mutations, people are still hesitant to make a Hero out of a walking reactor."
"So basically... you got screwed over by the administration?"
"Yep. Explains why they're more than happy to let me be in Enigma. Can't scare people if they don't know you exist."
"An unfortunate side effect of idiocy," Endo added. "Nuclear power has been safe for decades. But fear is fear. Illogical down to the smallest detail."
"Speaking of illogical," Okami opened, sitting down with a plate stacked high with sausage and bacon. "Why was I made team leader?"
"Class president?" Kaito suggested.
Okami shook his head. "Kaito and Kazumi are clearly stronger and more experienced. Endo is smarter. So on and so on."
Endo shook his head. "It is true that I'm intelligent, but I am also borderline sociopathic. I feel very little concern or empathy towards anyone other than Shizu. You don't want someone like me leading a team. I'd get half of the team killed simply because I don't care about you all."
Shizuku forced out a pained grin and apologized on behalf of her step-brother. "He doesn't mean it in a rude way. He just doesn't know how else to put it."
"So he's a jerk because of his genetics. Great excuse for it," Daidoji said.
That didn't sit well with Shizuku, who slammed her hands down on the table and stood, her blue-eyes glowing a crimson-red. "At least he can't help it. Can you?" She looked ready to leap across the table and tackle Dai.
"Hey if you wanna fight the bitch I'll help out," Kazumi said jokingly.
But Endo laid a hand over Shizuku's on the table without even looking away from his food. Shizuku scowled, but sat back down all the same.
"Okay let's not get too riled up here," Li said, always one to stop a fight from breaking out between classmates. "We had a good night, let's not ruin it the very next morning."
"I agree," Endo said. "There are much more pressing issues to take care of."
The table turned to him, confused.
"The tech you freed from stolen hands last night. It was being guarded by a Nomu, which is, as far as we know, a creation of the League of Villains."
"Yeah that creep Shigaraki brought one to the USJ. Can't believe it could fight on par with All Might," Adrian said.
"Can't believe we managed to take ours down," Kalen agreed.
"The point is that a Nomu was with the Yakuza. What for?"
"Maybe the League is selling Nomu as a force for hire?"
Endo shook his head. "I believe there is much more going on here."
"Because of the tech," Will guessed.
"Correct. The tech you recovered was specially designed."
"Some of it was radioactive," Will said. "Lots of tech is mildly radioactive, but this stuff was a little... too radioactive."
Endo nodded. "There are a few parts like that that I am aware of, and they only belong to one piece of tech each. They're very specific, expensive to create, but have very little value unless you're a scientist looking to use them for research. All but one part."
"Then what were they for?"
"Two of the parts were for highly advanced genetic sequencing, used to understand Quirk genealogy. We can assume the League wanted those to help create their Nomus, which was why one was guarding it. But it's the other piece of tech that is more concerning." Endo pulled out his phone, using it to project an image of the part. "It belongs to a very complicated machine. A Wave Disruptor. It is the most advanced piece of infiltration technology on the planet. It fools any sort of security, like an x-ray machine and shows it only what you want it to see. The technology was banned in virtually every country and the pieces needed to make it are strictly controlled."
