After 10 years of waiting and praying, I am finally going home. Going home to my favorite person, the person who held my heart for 14 years now ever since the first day I met her smiling eyes when we were 5. She's the reason why I chose to wake up.

She is my first love.

My favorite childhood memory.

My fingers gently touched the photograph of us taken by her mother. We were both 5 years old and I knelt in front of her offering her freshly picked bougainvillea from their garden her teary-eyed smile together with her sweet innocent smile showing her incomplete incisors. She may remember it as a silly childhood play but my young heart silently professed that someday... I will marry her.

After a 10-hour connected flight from Sydney to Manila then Manila to Ozamiz, I decided to throw my jetlag on bed. My luggage was left disarranged in the living room of my newly bought house.

The next day, I drove to Misamis University for enrollment. I almost did not recognize many things in the city, but the improvements made the city better. I have not contacted her yet since I only created my social media last week. I only contacted Tito and he sent me pictures of her so that I could recognize her. She has grown as a graceful and elegant lady yet her innocence remained. Though she changed a lot physically, I can still recognize her like when we were little.

Thankfully, my enrollment went smoothly and easily as the MedTech department and staff on the campus were approachable and warmly welcomed me. Long steps for a transferee like me who came from overseas but I believe I can adjust after a significant amount of time.

Hopefully not long enough...

The rooms of the Maria Mercado Hall were filled with academic noise as I roamed around the campus. The light and fresh ambiance of the campus also welcomed me with mirth. Some students were staring at me and I didn't have the slightest clue. Different uniforms worn by students representing year level or courses I think.

Certainly, the white uniforms worn by paramedical courses, distinguishable mariners, and the yellow, white, and black combinations worn by younger students are similar to middle school in AUS.

Yellow is the school's waving color that serves as sunshine for me.

Approaching the hallway to M106 for my Hepa B screening, the students who walked passed by me became blurry fast as I only saw her like sunshine for the first time after years in the darkness. She's wearing the same innocent smile while talking to another lady with long silky hair. I can vividly hear the loud ticking of my wristwatch with the same rhythm of the beating of my heart that is about to explode in bliss.

A delightful tear expelled from my eye as she waved her hand at me. Her eyes filled with uncontrolled enthusiasm, I could even hear the batting of her lashes. I thanked God for this day, the day I first met her again after a decade of missing her. She approached me without taking away her smile.

A smile that brings me to life again.

Another slow motion amid the fast motion of the people around us. My lower limbs started to stride to equate her pace... to finally meet her.

Closer and closer...

Then she walked past me. I looked back as I felt pain from that inch I missed. She hugged him, a very familiar face. I can't believe that the universe conspired with us in parallel lines. She gladly accepted his hand to hold as the man planted a kiss on her forehead and they walked away. Every step she took left me crumbling inside.

I sacrificed everything just for this moment just to tell her that, "I am Sky, her Kai."
