The air was getting cold enough to feel like whips against any bare skin that was forced to be exposed to it. Pink noses and ears were donned on every passing person as they weaved in and out of shops with window displays of red and green.
Christmas wasn't for another five weeks but that was never too early for deal hunters to start their present shopping for the year. One, two, three, even four bags per person swung beside their bundled bodies. Hats, scarves, gloves, some children began to resemble Michelin Man despite the lack of snow.
Yoongi would have normally stayed home to avoid the beating of the wind he so despised, however he had needed to buy some food because he was getting dangerously low, forcing him to brave the cold and go out into town.
As he turned onto the main street of the small town, his scarf whipped around, being pulled along by a new gust of wind that greeted him. It had caused him to take a step back from the force. The trees lining the street shook as if they were trying to free themselves from the heavy ornaments and Christmas lights that weighed them down.
A child a few feet away wasn't as balanced as Yoongi and succumbed to the fate of being pushed onto his butt, crying out in shock.
If Yoongi himself wasn't too frozen to react, he would have definitely laughed at the whole ordeal. Luckily the child was so well padded that his parents just bent down and propped him back up on his feet again and off the little tot ran.
Making his way past the family and further into the populated area, the louder it got. White Christmas, Baby it's Cold Outside, and Jingle Bell Rock all clashed in a cacophony outside the store fronts everytime someone entered their sliding doors, allowing the music to drift into the street.
Deciding that while he was out, he should stop to get coffee, Yoongi set his target on the one cafe in the area. Now with a direct plan, he made work weaving through slow shoppers and energized children, making sure to not bump into anyone.
Finally making it inside the cafe, he looked around. Packed. Of course, it was three in the afternoon on a saturday. Sighing, he started to unwrap his scarf from around his neck, shoving it into the strap of his fanny pack wrapped around the outside of his jacket and waited for his chance to order.
A little anxious about how crowded the area was, he made sure to repeat his order in his head so that it would be a smooth transaction when it was his turn.
One iced americano please, Iced americano, Iced americano please. Americano for here. Thanks.
With each new step forward towards the counter he got a little more anxious so he pulled out his phone to distract himself.
Noticing that there was a new message, he opened it.
Namjoon: Hey, I just got back to town! Wanna get dinner together at 5?
A smile grew across Yoongi's face as he read the chat. Namjoon had been his only friend since moving to this small town, both of them working for an up and coming music studio that managed to sign on a very popular pop artist.
It had been three years since they both met, Namjoon since then had gotten married to the love of his life Jin and he had been gone for the past two weeks visiting Jin's family before the holidays made traveling even more expensive.
Typing a quick sure with thumbs up emoji, Yoongi glanced back at the line and noticed that he was up next.
A little startled, he stood up straighter and shoved his phone into his pocket. Well, tired to shove it into his pocket, but with the unfamiliarity of his newer winter jacket, he ended up fumbling around on the side of the coat, missing the pocket all together for a few tries before he gave up in embarrassment.
