The days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. Before Beth knew it, she was laying in her bed, waiting for the doctor to arrive so she could deliver her baby.
She looked il at the ceiling. "I can't believe it's already been nearly a year since you were in this position.", she said to May who sat in a chair beside the bed.
May nodded. "I know.", she said, "Little Ben is about eleven months old now. Walking for the most part, babbling some words too." She sighed, "Time flies so fast." Beth nodded and patted her stomach.
"I know.", she agreed, "It seems like just a a couple days ago I found out I was going to be a momma. Now, here I am, just hours away from being one." May have Beth a look of awe.
"It's really the best thing in the whole world.", she said, "You love nothing more in the world than that child. And you would never let anything happen to it." Beth smirked.
"Yeah?", she said, "Maybe I won't let anything happen to my kid. But, you sure as hell did." May rolled her eyes.
"Oh gosh.", she said, "You lose your kid to some crazy demonic butler and you're labeled forever."
The door opened and Grell poked his head in. "Hello, dear.", he said, "How are things coming along?" Beth smiled at Grell.
"They're alright.", she said, "I'm ready to pop this thing out like a zit. But hey, only a little while longer." Grell laughed.
"I'm glad!", he said, "Now, the doctor should be here shortly. So just hang in there!" Beth raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"Oh don't worry.", she said, "I'm in too much pain to go anywhere." She grabbed her stomach and lower back. "I've been in labor for only an hour and I'm already sick of it." May gave Beth a look of sympathy.
"Get used to it.", she said, "My labor seemed to last forever." Beth sighed and rubbed her face.
"I really hope all this pain in worth it.", she said.
"I assure you it will be.", sebastian said walking into the room. "I found out myself that there is no greater thing in the world than having a child." He gave her a closed eyed smile.
Beth smiled back. "That's what I've heard.", she said, "I just hope I'll raise it right." May smiled.
"Don't worry.", she said, "You'll be a great mom! Your kid is gonna love you." Beth smiled back at her.
"That's right.", she said, "But it'll love fun aunt May even more. And even cousin Ben." May smiled at Beth and then Ben who sat on Sebastian's hip.
"Did you hear that, Ben?", she said, "You're going to have a little cousin to play with!" Ben smiled and clapped his hands together babbling some sounds.
Beth smiled. "I can't wait for that moment.", she said.
Within a half hour, the doctor had arrived at the manor. He made his way into Beth's room, showing no emotion as always.
"Alright.", he said. He pulled up a chair towards the end of the bed and sat down. "How long have you been in labor?", he asked. Beth shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know.", she said, "It feels like a hundred years. So, I'm just gonna go with that." The doctor gave Beth a straight face and adjusted his glasses. Beth sighed.
"Hour and a half.", she answered. The doctor scribbled some things down on his paper and then looked up over the rim of his glasses.
"Is this your first child?", he asked. Beth nodded.
"Yes.", she said, "Yes it is." The doctor scribbled something else down, cracked a smile and let out a small laugh.
"Good luck.", he said. He went back to his straight face and pushed his glasses up to the bridge of his nose. "Everyone else needs to clear out.", he said, "It's time that she starts pushing." May wished Beth good luck, and left the room, followed by sebastian.
"I think that's the first time I've ever seen him show any emotion.", May said once they were out in the hallway, "I almost didn't know how to handle that." Sebastian chuckled.
"Oh darling.", he said, "You're quite humorous." After hearing his dad laugh, Ben began to giggle and clap his hands together. May laughed at him.
"Daddy's silly, isn't he?", he said.
Back inside the bedroom the doctor looked at Beth. "Push again.", he said, "I can see the head." Beth scrunched up her face and screamed in pain.
"Is it out yet!", Beth screamed. The doctor shook his head.
"His head is out.", he said. "Again. We need shoulders and torso." Beth panted and pushed again. The doctor smiled slightly.
"We've got shoulders!", he said giving Beth an update. "Give me one more good push and I can pull it the rest of the way out." Beth pushed again, giving it all her strength. And the next thing she knew, she heard a baby cry.
May leaned up against the wall. "I don't hear screaming anymore.", she said, "So I'm assuming the baby got here, or Beth gave up and just shoved it back up there." Sebastian chuckled.
"It does seem like something she would do.", he said. Grell tapped his fingers together.
"Oh I do so hope she's alright!", he said. May have him a look of awe.
"She's fine.", she said, "I promise you." The door to the bedroom slowly opened and the doctor's head appeared between them.
"You all can come in now.", he said. Everyone rushed through the door and to Beth's bed side, where she held the baby in her arms. Grell pushed to the front of the group.
"Let me see!", he said. He took the baby from Beth and cradled it in his arms. "Oh look at those eyes!", he said, "The child surely gets those from his beautiful mother!" Beth smiled and slightly blushed.
"You don't have to call the baby an it anymore.", she said, "You can call the baby your son now."
Grell's eyes lit up as he looked down at the child. "A son!", he exclaimed. He looked around at everyone. "I have a son!" Finny pushed his way through everyone and stood at The bedside.
"Beth?", he said, "What are you going to name him?" A glimmer of hope rushed through Finny's eyes. Beth smiled at him and then looked at Grell.
"Grell?", she asked. Grell didn't look away from his son.
"Yes?", he answered. Beth glanced at Finny with a smile on her face.
"I have the perfect name for him.", she said, "You can pick the middle name though." Grell ran his thumb over the baby's face.
"It's whatever you like, dear.", he said. Beth smiled at everyone.
"I would like to name him Tobi.", she said. Grell blushed and his smiled with a look of awe down at his son.
"Tobi.", he repeated. "Oh, Tobi! It's perfect!" Finny clapped his hands together.
"Oh boy, oh boy!", he yelled, "Thank you so much, Beth!" Beth smiled at Finny and then looked back at Grell.
"What about a middle name?", she asked him, "I told you that you could pick it. So, go ahead.". Grell thought for a moment, but never took his eyes off his son.
"I think I'll go with the name Sylar.", he said. Beth smiled at Grell and then back at her son.
"Tobi Sylar Stutcliff.", she said, "I love it." Grell held Tobi close to his chest.
"Don't you worry son.", he said, "I'm going to be the bast daddy in the whole wide world." Tobi looked up and tried to smile. Grell kissed Tobi's forehead. "I promise you.", he said.
