He then proceeded to sit on his bed, looking gloomy and exhausted. I set to his right, taking off my bronze mask.

"How... how was it?"
I asked so quietly, I almost whispered.

"If only he'd let me know a bit more...
I could be so much better..."
Hunter mumbled, not elaborating. I didn't press on him.

The frustration was visible on his face. His face, that I didn't even know not too long ago.

What can I do to comfort him? Hugging is a bit awkward in this position.
I reached to hold his right hand, lacing my fingers in his just like family's walking around the streets do.

My heart started racing. I didn't understand why. I looked at Hunter.
He looked at me, not sure what to say.
His cheeks were slightly colored. Where they red tinted before?

"Why did you choose me, Hunter?"
I let go of the question that was digging inside of me for so long.
"Why me and not a magician?"

"I just felt a connection to you.
Even though you were powerless, you were very hard working. You have skills and determination that I don't have. You made me understand that I am worth so much more than my artificial staff."
He smiled slightly.

"And I knew you'd actually care. The day you bursted into the throne room after saving these scouts, I knew you were something great.
And when I tested you, you were just extraordinary. You are perfect.
You are ready to train and learn much more than a magician that received all they needed in life.
This is why I chose you."
Hunter slightly squeezed my hand.

"Why didn't you tell me that you are powerless, too?"
I wondered.

"I was ashamed. I was worried you wouldn't respect me or want to be my right hand if you knew I was less powerful than you thought."
He admitted.
"It's a shame that people around here don't take you too seriously. You deserve so much more."

I didn't know how to reply, but the silence was not awkward at all.
We began to feel sleepy. I rested my head on his shoulder while he rested his head on top of mine.

"We know each other for so long, but it feels as if only yesterday we've met for the first time."

I giggled.
"It sounds so weird."

"I know."

Cool morning wind blew inside the room from the open window. We didn't have anything going on today so we had some time to kill. I felt peaceful.

"I don't know what it is, but I feel fuzzy inside. But in a good way."
Hunter mumbled.

"Me too."
I mumbled in return.

We just stayed like this for a while.

Bird sounds were heard from the window. A familiar red creature flew inside and sat on Hunter's lap.

"Palisman,"
He held it, accidentally pressing on it.
"...sorry."
He let go.

I pet the bird's red feathers.

"It'll be bad I Belos saw you."
Hunter sighed as he took the bird again, leading it to the window.

The palisman suddenly turned into a staff in his arms.
"...huh. I didn't expect that."

"Wow,"
I commented.
"I think it chose you."

"Really?"
Hunter stared at it.
"...I don't know, it's not a good idea."

I shrugged.
I trust that he will make the right choice.
These 'dangerous' creatures of wild magic don't seem THAT bad.
Maybe Luz was right?

Hunter signalled me to join him by the window.
"Look at this view."
