𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵... what is that noise... I moved around in my bed, trying to block out the irritating sound. I groggily open my eyes and see light seeping through my curtains. I sat up as I tiredly rubbed my eyes. I looked over at my desk and saw where the noise was coming from. My alarm clock... I really need to get rid of that thing... I got out of bed and turned off the clock. I yawned and turned to the window. Maybe some natural lighting will be nice. I pull back the curtains as my room was flooded with a warm yellow light. The sun had barely started to rise as the sky showed a beautiful contrast of blues and gold. I walked over to my bathroom to start my daily school routine. I took a quick shower and put on my uniform. I was in the middle of brushing my teeth when I heard a knock at my bedroom door. The door opened as my mother peaked her head.

"Oh Anna, good morning." She gave me a warm smile as she fully entered the room. I spit out the toothpaste in my mouth and let out a muffled good morning. She laughed a little and walked into the room, her eyes glossing over it.

"Say, have you seen Sakura this morning? I can't find her anywhere." I shook my head as I wiped the remaining toothpaste off my lips. My mom sighed.

"She must have snuck out again..." She worryingly mumbled as she took one more look around the room. Her eyes landed on my unmade bed.

"Make sure to fold your sheets, Anna." She said as she left my room. I heard her footsteps down the stairs as they got quieter and quieter. I sighed and walked over to my bed, folding the covers neatly. If I'm honest I never liked doing my bed. It always felt like a hassle. I finished folding the covers, placing them neatly back onto my bed. Now all I need to do is finish doing my hair and find my bag... I walked back into the bathroom and quickly did two, slightly messy, pigtails. It's the only hairstyle I could do since my hair is so short... I push back my bangs a little to try to make them a little more presentable. I turned off the light and walked out of my bathroom. Now for my bag...I'm sure I left it somewhere in the kitchen. I left my room and headed downstairs. As I got closer to the kitchen the smell of something sweet got stronger.

As I enter the kitchen I see mom taking something out of the fridge and dad doing some paperwork on the table. I also saw my bag sitting on one of the chairs. My dad looked up and seemed to finally noticed me as I got closer.

"I didn't see you there, Anna. Good morning." He greeted, impassively. My mom always said I got my emotionless face from my dad. He was always hard to impress.

"Good morning, dad. Are you not going to work today?" I questioned as I took my bag off the chair and sat down. He sipped his coffee and started writing.

"I wasn't needed today." He uttered focusing back on the mounds of paperwork. My mom walked around and poured me a glass of orange juice. She then slid me a plate of melonpan.

"Thank you," I said with a smile as the sweet aroma filled my nostrils. She gave me one of her signature smiles and turned back around to focus on something else. I savored the sweetness and the warmth of the bread. I hummed slightly as I ate. The room was quiet, filled with the small sounds of writing and the occasional sound of utensils clicking. After a few minutes mom put a small bento on the table.

"Don't forget your bento today, Anna." She said and I blushed slightly.

"Sorry, I don't know how I forgot about it yesterday. You kept reminding me about it in the morning..." I muttered, a little embarrassed by my forgetfulness. My mom chuckled at this.

"It's alright, honey." She said as she walked over to kiss me on the forehead. After that, I finished my melopan quickly and downed the orange juice. I rinsed my dishes and grabbed my bag, hosting it over my shoulder. I also packed my bento, not wanting to forget it again. My dad looked over at me as he watched me get ready to leave.

"Do you a want a ride to school, Anna? You'll likely get there faster." He offered as he set his pen down. Well... It's not often that I'm with my dad. It was also a better alternative than taking the subway.

"Yes please," I said as I tried to put on my bag strap more comfortably. We left as mom waved us goodbye, wishing me a good day. As we got into the car I couldn't help but think about what my second day at Seiryou High would bring me.
