Anna found herself staring into her Potions book. Her last encounter with Marcus had shaken her. Oliver, on the other hand, wrote it off as typical 'Flint behavior'. Oliver told her about the times when they would be forced to shake hands, they would try to break each others fingers. He didn't seem bothered once they returned to the castle but it kept replaying over and over inside Anna's head. The look on Marcus' face before he realized what he done was terrifying, she'd never seen someone so angry before. She wondered if her smart mouth had real gotten to him that much?
Her thoughts flew away when the dungeon door flung open. Snape's black cloak swished by her as he stalked to the front of the class room. He looked around at the crowd of student and sighed to himself.
"Open you books to page 290, the potion is due by end of class."
Marcus rolled his eyes and balled up a piece of parchment. He tossed it right into Anna's cauldron. Ignoring him Anna scooped the soggy paper of before it fell apart. Marcus wasn't deterred instead he began taunting Oliver and Anna with his housemates.
"I bet she helps Wood polish his broomstick." Pucey elbowed Marcus.
Marcus snorted.
"Doubtful. Wood wouldn't know what to do with her. He prefers holding broomsticks."
"Had she could hold mine. Oi, Flint?" Bole stated.
"Are you kidding me? Flithy little Gryffindor." He smirked at her.
Oliver shifted next to Anna, pouring a green liquid into his cauldron. Anna ignored them still, smiling to herself as her potion began to glow neon purple. It smelled lovely, like peach blossoms. She caught Snape's attention.
"You finished very quickly, Miss Morvo. Why don't you help out Mr. Flint. Otherwise, he'll be here all evening."
Anna sighed and pushed away from her table and made her way over to him. It felt like she was walking to her execution. Marcus was already glaring, he appeared to be biting his tongue as she approached. He kicked the chair out backwards, it snapped against the table behind him. Anna grabbed the chair and moved it back so she could sit next to him.
"I don't need your help." He snapped.
"That's fine but we have to get it done, Snape's not giving me detention."
"Detention..." He mumbled.
A smirk played across Marcus' face that scared her more that his glare. He grabbed something and poured it into the cauldron. Black smoke bellowed from the pot. Anna covered her mouth, coughing as she moved away from the table. Draco high-fived Marcus. His friends were all laughing. Snape rushed over and flick his wand. The smoke and liquid were gone but Snape was staring at Anna.
"Professor, I didn't .. he. I don't know what he did."
"Detention, both of you."
"But sir, I didn't do anything." Anna objected.
"Precisely... My point."
Anna stared at him. She was going to argue until she was distracted by a muffled laugh.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She growled at him.
Marcus laughed again, Sharing a smile with Draco.
"Sorry Professor. What time?"
"You two will take inventory here during dinner. Class dismissed."
Anna pushed away from the table gathered her bag she shoved her wand inside. Stalking out the door she heard her name being called.
"Anna."
Oliver caught up to her and held out her potions book.
"Sorry bout Flint. He's a troll. Sometimes, I'd like to knock his lights out."
Anna nodded.
He was leaning against the wall in a black sweater and light blue jeans. He looked up at her with a smile. Anna had to force herself not to smile back at the handsome jerk. He ran his finger through his messy spikes before tilting his head. Anna followed him inside the dark classroom.
Marcus jumped up on a table and leaned back. He tossed her the keys. Anna shook her head.
"You aren't making me do this myself, Flint."
"I'm not doing anything, Marvo. So get your pretty little ass in that closet and get to work."
"You disgusting pig!'
Anna had enough she lost it before she could come to her senses her hand landed on his cheek, hard. He jumped up and caught her by the wrist as she tried to back away from the seething man in front of her. He pulled her to his chest so hard her breath was forced out of her lungs. He ignored her whimpers and brought his face down to hers.
"If you ever do that again, you'll regret it." His voice rumbled in her ear.
Marcus dropped her hand and walked over to the closet.
Anna looked at him unsure of what was going on.
"I don't know how we're supposed to be married." He mumbled.
"We don't. We marry to break the curse than go our separate ways." She told him.
"Is that what you plan?"
"You know that's exactly what you were thinking, Flint."
"No. I fully intend to carry out this marriage."
"Why? You hate me. Sounds like a perfect way to get out of this mess."
"I don't hate you."
"Really? I'd sure hate to see how you'd treat me if you did. You got me detention for no reason. You tried to kill me and Oliver the other day."
"He shouldn't have touched you."
"Touched me... You were jealous?"
"Not jealous, possessive completely different."
Anna laughed. Marcus looked dead serious but she thought he was joking.
"Possessive is worse."
He shook his head.
"Is not. Mine is mine. You wouldn't want someone using your wand.. Now would you?"
"Guess not." Anna picked up a bottle, pretending to read it lable.
"It's gonna be so hard to get used to you."
Marcus scoffed.
"You're telling me."
Anna pushed her golden locks over her shoulder. Marcus caught himself staring at the pretty girl before him, silently cursing himself for being a stupid git. He'd always be a jerk and girls loved his power. He could pull a prettier girl if he wanted to, hell he could have his choice of many women if that's what he wanted but Marcus wasn't that kind of guy.
He wanted one girl. Someone that no one else could ever have. Anna Marvo was that girl and he wasn't about to sit back and lose her because he acted like a jackass. Marcus was smart enough to know that now he'd have to turn on the charm before Wood got his hands on her. Marcus was sure of only one thing Oliver Wood was not going to get HIS girl.
