Chapter 24 - The Second Battle

With the scouts distracted with their obstacles of Titans, the Beast Titan took its time walking towards Wall Maria and successfully climbing over into the territory.

Ymir fought while tearing down the castle with each hit. Eventually, her fighting was restricted as her limbs were restrained by numerous hands and teeth. She struggled against their grips and she cried out as she felt their teeth sinking into her Titan's flesh.

The rookies evacuated safely from the collapsed castle, they watched as their friend struggled. Krista couldn't bear the sight and despite being unarmed, she ran towards Ymir, almost tripping over large remains of the castle.

" Krista! " Connie called after her.

" Wait! Ymir! I still want to talk to you! I still haven't told you my real name! " Krista continued making her way towards Ymir, but she froze in her place when a Titan peaked out from behind large remains of stone which took her by surprise.

The Titan eyed her, like a predator would to its prey. It stretched its hand out to her, Krista's eyes widened in horror until the familiar swish of a sword overtook her hearing.

Within seconds, the Titan's body collapsed and began to vaporise. Her saviour landed onto the large stone, Krista eyed the person's silhouette, it was one she didn't recognise but the symbol on the cloak granted her familiarity.

Wings of Freedom.

Emma was the first to spot the four individuals, with a Titan hovering a petite woman with blonde hair. The scene before her eyes, it was very familiar because a few weeks ago, she was in that exact position before Levi saved her.

If it wasn't for him, she would have been dead that day and she was grateful. If there was anything she learned from that moment, it was the true meaning of being a scout. To have courage and to extend a helping hand to those who needed it. Emma wasn't about to start leaving others in despair. Without hesitation, she drew out her swords and shot her gear towards the Titan before landing a clean slice across its nape.

Emma flicked at her sword to get rid of the blood that clung onto it, before glancing over her shoulder to where the four individuals stood. " Everyone, get back! Leave the rest to us. "

Hange's rescue team shot off their off their horses and landed swift attacks towards the large group of Titans. One by one, the giants fell as their nape were successfully sliced off.

" Disperse and cover the area! The rest of us will attack where the Titans are gathering! " Hange ordered.

Eren got off his horse and went to participate in the fight.

" Hey! " Hange called out, " We don't need you to be part of the attack! " Eren didn't listen, he proceeded to land an attack to accomplish his first kill.

" I did it! My first kill! " he cheered at his victory of successfully slicing a Titan's nape, but his gear hooks didn't support his moment for long. Instead, it chose to detach unexpectedly, causing him to lose balance in the air and fall onto the ground.

" Eren! " Emma landed down beside him to help him up, " Are you alright? " she dusted the rubble off him.

" Y—yes! I'm fine, thanks. " he stuttered, scratching the nape of his neck sheepishly. He felt slightly embarrassed and hoped that Emma had not seen him fall miserably.
