"What is the point of doing this to keep my skin looking young when I smoke...God Y/n...sometimes," I say to myself in the mirror. Being a little too harsh on myself when I am drunk.

I flop onto my bed plugging my phone into the charger and engulfing myself in the warmth of the bed. I refuse to put on the heat even though it's a cold October night. The less money I spend on utilities, the more I can spend on other aspects of my life. I feel my body start to spin a little from the wine and yawn into my impending sleep.

-

"You can't outrun me sugar. You know that I am stronger than you," I hear a thick New Jersey voice say from behind me as I navigate the unfamiliar woods.

"Stay away from me," I scream back choking onto the words from the running that I have been doing.

"You should stop smoking. Maybe you would have more stamina," I hear the voice say closer with a chuckle.

I feel something hit my shin making me scream out and brace myself with my hands taking the brunt of the impact. I whimper out feeling the sharp pain coming from my palms and knees. I looked down towards my hands seeing something stuck in my right bottom palm. I hiss pulling it out feeling liquid pool out of the throbbing area.

I hear someone behind me inhale making me freeze.

"Your smell...it's something that I will never forget. Sweeter than anything that I have ever smelled," I hear the voice change. I frown my eyebrows together before I turn my head to see the man behind me. It's not who I thought was chasing me this whole time making me more fearful.

"Y/n! RUN! Don't let him get in your head," I hear someone else in the distance say.  I gasp getting up trying to run away but my legs fell weak.

-

"HELP!" I scream out sitting up in bed. I gasp holding onto my neck and feeling my heart beat against my fingertips. I feel the sweat drip down my body making me shiver from the environment around me. I look over at the time to see that it is only 5 in the morning. I flop back onto my back looking up towards the ceiling.

"It was just a dream Y/n. Go back to sleep," I say to myself closing my eyes and rolling over towards my side facing the window. I shiver slightly from the cold but try to ignore it. A moment pasts before my eye felt the light shining into the room stronger than a moment before and a gust of cold air hit my face. Confused I open my eyes and look towards my curtains which are swaying with the wind. I shoot out of bed immediately, knowing that I didn't open my window going to bed.

Once I make it over my window is open halfway. I immediately shut it and make sure that the latch is shut. Stepping back I feel my heart race thinking that someone is in my room. I move slowly over towards the bedroom light flicking it on to see that no one was there.

After investigating the whole apartment and finding nothing and everything else in place and locked. I make my way back to my bed, chalking it up to having too much wine and I got hot in the night opening the window.

I sip on my coffee watching Seinfeld on a gorgeous Saturday morning, forgetting everything that happened the night before. I have been in this apartment for over two years and have never had any issues. None of my neighbors or frankly anyone in this building has had issues here. Hence why I chose it, I mostly am internally scolding myself for being that drunk and allowing myself to be so reckless. I don't have many friends, my one close friend is back and forth from the city, my guy friends are back home in New Jersey, and my college friend lives in Boston. Most of the time I am alone, and I am ok with that. Sure I do get lonely but they and my family are only a call away.
