Invisible String

CHAPTER 6

They ran to me, trying to get past the other so they'd be the first to hug me. These idiots. Soon enough, I'm being squashed like a dough with their tight hugs. "Cant— breathe." I say as I try to catch my breath. Conrad was the first to let me go, he tapped the other's arms saying "Give her breathing ability back" as he chuckles at my red face. Farris then followed but Otto stayed hugging me tight. "Happy birthday, princess! Please stop being bossy." He says as he tightens his hold. I flicked his forehead, "Then stop being such a child around me." He steps back, rubbing his forehead, "But you're my older sister, you should be taking care of me." He retorts.

Conrad came back to me, chuckling like it's his favorite thing to do. He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer, planting a kiss on my forehead. "Happy birthday, pumpkin. I hope you like it." He says as he hand me a box wrapped with a blue ribbon. I hugged him tight which he returned.

"Hey! We got presents too, you know." Farris declares as he walks over to me and Conrad. I break the hug and faced Farris who was now handling a smaller box. He kissed my right cheek as he wishes me "Happy birthday, sunshine." I hugged him too, basically making Otto protest.

"Me too! Hey! My turn!" I swear, he's only this childish when we're all together. I laugh at him who's constantly hitting Farris' arm as he stomps his feet like a kid. I let go of Farris, I faced Otto's before speaking, "Why are you throwing tantrums, what are you, twelve?" The other two laughed at my comment, Otto glared at them as he stick he tongue out. "Here's mine. Take care of it. I'll kick your ass if you lose it." He says as he hands me another small box and kisses my left cheek. "You're the only one who loses their stuff in this family." I reply as I ruffle his hair.

"But thank you, all of you. You know, you shouldn't have bothered. You could've just saved your money for better cause. Spending this day with all of you is already enough for me. As long as we're complete." I say as I face them all, holding the presents tight.

"Oh shut up and just open them. I wanna see your reaction." Otto demands. "Look who's bossy now." I respond while rolling my eyes. "Whatever. Open mine first!"

As requested, I opened Otto's gift first. It was a blue stoned earring, but there's only one. I looked up at him, "Oh wow, thanks. I can't wait to walk around wearing only one earring on my ear. Such amazing fashion you have produced, Mr. Otto." I say sarcastically which made them laugh.

"The other pair is in my box, Luna." Farris says as his laughter subside. "Well, thank you for informing me earlier." I respond. I opened the box that Farris gave me and there it is, the other pair of the earrings. These idiots loves to play, even so, I still love them. I stared at the two blue stones that match my eyes, I smiled as I admire how pretty it is.

"Well? Aren't you gonna open you favorite brother's gift?" Conrad says as he cleared his throat, snatching my attention. This, of course, received a glare from the two. He just shrugged it off as he chuckles at his brothers' objections claiming they're my favorite brother. I roll my eyes as I ignore their banters to each other explaining how they're my favorite. I opened the box he gave me, and I found a bracelet that matches the earrings they gave me along with many hair ties.

"Hey! You said we're only giving her the accessories, why did you put hair ties in your present! You cheater." Otto launched at Conrad, but he held Otto's head stopping him from getting near him. Now Otto looks like an idiot who's punching the air. "Well she loves tying her hair so I figured she'd like it as a gift."

"I love it. Thank you." I placed the present on the table beside me and went to hug the three idiots, which they immediately returned. "Thank you, I love you all. I'll take care of your gifts, I promise." I pulled back and smiled at them before speaking again. "That looks expensive, you could've just gotten the hair tie, or none is alright. But I swear, I appreciate all your efforts."
