"So you decided to marry our rival? Don't be ridiculous, Minji. Kang Hojun is better than this wannabe. You won't have a future with this Kim Yoohyeon. What can she give you, Minji? You can't even have children!" Yoohyeon stepped forward with her hand clenched, but Minji stopped her.
"Leave. Please, leave. I love Yoohyeon, I love everything about her. I don't care about what she can and can't give me. You're hurting me too with your words, dad. So please leave. I'll go to the company tomorrow." Her dad still had an angry look but Minji didn't care and she shut the door. The moment she did, her knees went weak and she would've fallen on the floor if Yoohyeon didn't support her.
"I got you." Yoohyeon carried her towards the couch, cuddling Minji with her head on her chest while she was seated on her lap. Minji's father is still the same as what Yoohyeon remembers. Strict and demanding over Minji.
"I'm sorry he said that to you." Yoohyeon kissed Minji's forehead, planting her lips there for a moment before she spoke up.
"It doesn't really matter to me, Minji. I care about you. How are you feeling?"
"A little hurt. But well, he never really cared about feelings and all. He even told me that feelings and emotions are the things that will hinder me. But I don't believe that. I don't want to be a heartless person, Yooh." Minji bit her lip down because her old nickname for Yoohyeon slipped, noticed how Yoohyeon's heartbeat picked up its pace because of the slip-up.
"You're not. You're definitely not, Ji." Yoohyeon looked down at Minji and gave her a smile, reassuring Minji's heart that the nicknames are okay, that bringing back fragments of their past is okay. "You're one of the people that I know who has the biggest and kindest heart out there. Your father doesn't see it because he's blinded by material things. But I see it. And it's so beautiful." Yoohyeon leaned down to give a peck on Minji's lips.
"You're beautiful." Minji launched forward to kiss Yoohyeon deeper, burying her hands in her head to pull her close. Minji wanted to take it further but a doorbell interrupted them. Again.
Minji groaned in annoyance and stood up from Yoohyeon's lap. She opened the door forcefully, just to see her two best friends who were obviously mad.
"What the fuck, Kim Minji??? Why aren't you answering your phone? You got us so worried!" Bora went inside to hug Minji, surprised that Yoohyeon was on the couch.
"Yoohyeonnie?"
"Hi, Bora. It's nice to see you again. You too, Dongie." Handong stormed in to hug Yoohyeon tightly, mumbling an 'I miss you' against her shoulder. Before Minji and Bora, there was Yoohyeon. Yoohyeon was Handong's best friend so when Yoohyeon left, Handong was also left broken. Thankfully, Bora was there to pick up the broken pieces and sew them together. Though, whenever Handong would remember Yoohyeon, her heart would ache because she feels like she failed as a best friend to Yoohyeon, also mad that Yoohyeon left without saying anything.
"I miss you too, Dongie."
"So, it's true? You're really getting married?" Bora said as she shut the door behind her, with Minji leading her to the couch where Yoohyeon and Handong were.
"Yeah. We're faking it though since our parents demand us to get married to men we don't know. After a few months or so, we're ending it." Minji sat in front of Yoohyeon, seeing a glimpse of something that she can't pinpoint on. Hurt? Anger? She doesn't know.
"So you're officially doing it." Bora said in disbelief. She knows Minji, and she knew Yoohyeon for a short time, and these two like challenges whenever they are faced with them. So it wasn't a surprise that one day, both these people will end up as CEOs.
