E namored queen, elegant, eloquent

L ongest reigning British monarch (7 decades)

      Lilibet was her nickname ( named herself when, as a child,

            she couldn't pronounce Elizabeth),

       loved her corgis

I rish guards protected her estates, Irish wolf hound (royal mascot)

Z ealous about her duties

A bdication by her Uncle Edward VIII made her heiress to the throne

B uckingham Palace was her royal residence in London

        Balmoral Castle in Scotland was her favorite summer residence

E xceptionally loyal to British subjects and all colonists

       Extensively traveled to visit even the smallest colonies

T rooping the Colour has celebrated the official birthday of the British

       Sovereign for over 260 years. This excellent display of military

       precision, sportsmanship and fanfare involving 1400 parading

       soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians occurs in June.

       Queen Elizabeth's birthday was actually on April 2.


H eritage: descended from King George V and his wife, Queen Mary,

       in the House of Windsor.

A/N I actually saw the young Queen Elizabeth in person with Prince Phillip

         in Sydney Cricket Ground (Australia) in 1953 when, shortly after the

         coronation, they were on tour. I was with my primary school class  and

         our teacher. I thought she was beautiful and I admired her forever. They

         were such a handsome couple. May they rest in peace.  ~ gail
