Farris was taken aback by my sobs, feeling guilty of yelling. He held my face, wiping the tears that just won't stop coming. "I'm sorry. You're right."
I looked up at him and he smiled at me. "You really look ugly when you cry." He says, trying to at least lighten up the mood in this time of despondency.
Conrad joins our distressing moment as he pats my back gently, "Let's go save your brats." He says, giving me a reassuring smile.
I hugged them both, "Thank you! I promise I'll be careful." I say in between sobs.
"Oi! I'm here too! Where's my hug?" Otto breaks in between us. I let out a cry-laugh because of it.
"Alright, but you all need to promise me not to die. It's not even in the option." I say, breaking the hug and looking them straight in the eyes.
"Don't worry pumpkin, we won't." Conrad replies.
"Yeah, how can we protect you if we die? So rest assured we won't die." Farris adds, patting my head.
"Yup, no one will put up with your sarcastic jokes if we die. We can't let that happen. You'd die out of boredom." Otto teases me.
Conrad chuckled before speaking again, "Save the teasing when we get home. Now come on and let's get us some gears."
We ran as fast as we could to the direction of the orphanage, hoping we won't run into those ugly ass titans. I'm really regretting wearing a long skirt today. We stopped and hid inside a house when we saw a titan not that far from us. Soon enough, the garrison took out the titan.
I sat down and ripped my long skirt cutting it above my knee so I can move comfortably. Good thing I always wear shorts underneath. I used the ripped cloth to cover the lower half of my face, so in case the Scouting Legion shows up, they won't easily recognize me. The three just looked at me and didn't say anything as they know what I'm doing.
We went back to running towards the orphanage when we found a dead body of a trainee from the 104th Training Corps. Poor soul. We took his gear and thankfully, it still has enough gas and blades. We gave it to Otto. Soon enough, we found more dead bodies. I grimace at the site of their half eaten bodies. Conrad and Farris took the gears that have more gas than others while I stay on the lookout.
We geared up and proceeded to the orphanage. On our way, I saw a child hiding on the back of a stall. I went to her, "OI LUNA!" I heard Farris calling but I didn't bother looking, I just wanted to save the kid.
"Hey, it's okay. You're safe now. Come." The kid ran to me, crying. I carried her in my arms, gently hushing the little girl from crying louder.
Farris comes to us, "Don't just take off away from us like that again, you understand?"
"Yes, I'm sorry." I apologize as I hug the kid.
"Okay, good. Give her to me, I'll carry her." Farris says, opening his arms as I hand the kid to him.
"Go, take her to the evacuation team. We can't risk her life more." I insist. "We'll be fine. I'll be with Conrad and Otto. You can come back to us when she's safe."
"Fine." He responds. He looked at Conrad and Otto who were at the roof behind us, "Don't take your eyes off Luna, she might flee by herself again. And wait for me before you do something reckless. Leave as soon as you get the children out." He says which the two responded with a nod.
He left us with the kid so we hurriedly advanced to the orphanage. Horror soon welcomed us as we found more titans coming from that direction. I set off killing the titans on our way hoping we're not too late. Conrad and Otto did the same but I could feel their glare because of my impulsive attack.
