Invisible String

CHAPTER 4

"Oh shut up, no one was looking." I say as we enter the shop.

"No but I think I saw those ugly guys looking at you since we arrived here." Otto says as he put his arm around my shoulder.

"Where? Where?! How many? Nevermind, we can take them all down anyway." Farris says jogging like a stupid weirdo inside the shop, like he was warming up while jiggling his hands in front of him. What an idiot.

Conrad just chuckles like he always does. "That's enough, you two. I think we've embarrassed Luna enough."

At least one of them is still in their right mind. I moved to his side, "What would I do without you?"

"I'm sure you'll be just fine without me. You probably had flipped them over by now if I'm not around." He replies chuckling as I join him.

I looked around the shop while the three stayed on the side talking about who-knows what. I saw a lavender scent soap and wanted to buy it when suddenly, there's a loud bang from afar along with a rumbling.

The bottles at the shelf fell from the shaking of the ground. Those poor cleaning supplies. The boys rushed to me, Conrad checking for cuts or bruises from the shattered glass while Farris asks if I'm okay. Otto went outside to see what happened. I told them I'm fine and we followed Otto outside.

We were greeted by the crowd running away from the south, looking terrified. A woman tripped for running too fast while wearing a long skirt, Otto went to help her then asked, "What's happening, why are you all running?"

The woman looked at him, trembling, before responding, "The Colossal Titan is here and destroyed the wall! The titans are going to come in!" She screams before running again.

I looked at the direction the people are coming from. Then I realized, the orphanage is in that direction. I started walking towards it without thinking.

Conrad snapped me back to reality when he called me, "Luna! Where are you going? We need to leave!" He yells.

Otto held my arms, stopping me from taking another step. "The children" I mumble, eyes wide open, thinking of what horror they could be feeling at this moment.

"LUNA!" Farris calls as he goes to me. He lifted me and put me on his shoulder as he turn around towards the direction the people are going, ready to leave. "We need to evacuate."

"NO!" I protested as I struggle to get out of his hold, "PUT ME DOWN! WE NEED TO GO BACK! WE CAN STILL SAVE THE CHILDREN!" I scream, hitting his back. "LET ME GO!"

Farris ignored me and kept walking, Conrad however tried to calm me down, "Luna, we can't go there. We don't have any gears. We'll just put ourselves in danger." He says, trying to convince me.

"We can steal equipments from their base or get the gears from the dead soldiers. Maybe they'll let us if we convince them that we're just helping."  I reply, still trying to let go.

Farris put me down, holding my arms tight finally speaks, "You think I'll let you jeopardize your safety?! Are you insane?! I don't care if we can fight or even kill titans, you always put yourself in danger for others and that's got to stop! You need to save yourself, even for once think about yourself Luna!" He shouts at me, frustrated by my whining.

"O-oi Farris, don't yell at her." Otto says as he looks at Farris shocked. This is the first time everyone has seen Farris this infuriated.

I looked down, "And you think the children don't need saving?" I mutter. "They've already been through so much in their young age, but this.." I trail off, fighting back the years that are threatening to fall. "..this is not the life I was looking forward they'd have. They could still have a better future if we save them now from this hell.... So please." I say as I let the tears fall.
