He shakes his head. "No, no. Someone's gotta be sober enough to drive your dumb self home later,"
I pretend to be offended, but I know he's right. Even if I had a car, there was no way will I be safe to drive after tonight. Jonathan's attention is captured by something. I follow his gaze to Nancy and Steve on the dancefloor. Nancy is obviously inebriated, and Steve wears those stupid glasses he always does. Seriously dude, it's the middle of the night.
"You really like her, huh?" I slur my words a bit. Whatever is in this concoction is strong, my limbs already loosening and heat rising on my face.
Jonathan looks at me, dumbfounded. "Shut up." He pouts. I laugh, filling up another cup and handing it to him. He relents, taking it from me. Jonathan disappears into the crowd, hopefully, to find someone to distract him. Nancy is a lost cause. She and Steve are stuck together like superglue, even though we all know they don't work well together. Whatever. If she's happy, I'll be happy too.
I limber up my bravery before going to find a cute boy to set my sights on. Turns out, I don't need to seek him out. As I suck down spiked punch and watch Jonathan desperately try to flirt with a girl dressed as a Kiss member, someone approaches me.
"Hey there," the guy says, leaning over me. I look up at him. God, he's huge, like a whole foot taller than me type of huge. He smells like cologne and liquor, an intoxicating combination that makes my knees almost buckle. "I'm Billy. What's your name?" his voice is deep and smooth.
"Y/N," I tell him confidently.
"What a beautiful name," he charms. "you here all alone?" he asks, pressing a little closer to me. His hips are just barely brushing my side, and hit hot breath fans my face. My body boils, and my face flushes.
"Yeah, completely alone," I smirk.
"Well, lucky me then that I stumbled across you," he flirts. "And lucky you. Don't you know parties like this are full of creeps?"
I cock a brow at him. He's charming, I'll give him that. I can sniff out bullshit, though, and he reeks of it. "I can hold my own, but thank you,"
The atmosphere is just starting to get a little heated when we are unfortunately interrupted.
Nancy stumbles up to the punch, falling into me. I catch her in my arms. Steve is hot on her tail, pulling her away as she tries to scoop up more alcohol in her glass.
"No, No, No!" Steve scolds.
"Get off!" Nancy groans.
"Nance, what's going on?" I butt in, now ignoring the guy I was talking to.
"Look, you've had enough, okay? Time to go home," Steve says sweetly.
"Screw you!" Nancy barks.
"Nance," I caution, grabbing her arm. "that's enough."
"Screw you too!" she spits at me. I frown, irritated.
"Nance, I'm serious. Put it down," Steve says. I'd never seen him so serious about something, not even when we were fighting a monster together. Perhaps I was wrong in my judgment of Steve Harrington. Maybe he really does care for Nancy, more than he lets others see.
Steve tries to take the drink from Nancy, but in their struggle, she spills it all over her white shirt. Nancy curses, storming off to the bathroom. Steve goes after her, and I decide it is best to leave them alone for a while. What could I really do, anyways?
I lean on the counter, grab a bottle of random liquor and return to my conversation.
"So, where are you from?" the boy asks slyly.
