Chapter 2- dealing with the unexpected

i could see chase walking up the stage and Lucy still wrapped around my arms. she looked up to find chase looking at her with a weak smile. lucy returned with the same smile.

he placed his hands below his chin patting it lightly. lucy's grip loosend and stood straight and gave a smile.

he always did that when lucy was scared or nervous or frightened. chase also acted like a brother to me since i didn't have one growing up and i knew what it meant.

it mead 'keep your head up'.

he turned and looked at me and nodded. i returned it with a smile.

the president stood once again infront of the mic, holding another peice of paper.

the second elemental.

he opened it slowly and spoke. "noah carmicheal."

noah walked up the stage with a scared look on his face and stood beside chase.

"now, the girls." the president said walking to another bowl and got out a peice of paper and walked back to the mic.

but before he could say the name a familiar voice booms and i start to tremble.

"I would like to take the elemental's place." lucy yells beside me. i turn to look at her and she looked back at me, holding both my hands.

"what are you doing?" i asked her. before she could reply the president spoke.

"you are brave for taking her place." he spoke. "i just hope you know what you are doing." he states and two guards come up to our pew and took lucy up to the stage.

she ran to chase and hugged him tightly. the president went back to the bowl and took out another paper.

"the last elemental." he said holding up the paper before opening it.

"melody brown."

i could feel my body shake and in that moment i felt like i was going to loose it. how could this happen?

two guards escort me up to the stage and i stand beside lucy and she took my hand and sqweezed it lightly.

"ladies and gentlemen, our elementals." the president booms. gesturing to us with a smile.

no applause. after a few seconds the president escorted us into a building where all four of us stayed in for a few minutes of waiting.

after, a guard came in and escorted us into a train. we all sat down and soon the train came to life and started to head for the capitol.
