He's Dating Your Best Friend But You Like Him (Pt. 2)

"You know with the papers and weird acting?"

"Oh... it was nothing. Just didn't want anyone to see what I was writing is all. Don't want to leak the song!" You fake laughed, trying to keep it light-hearted. She couldn't know how you were feeling right now as it would make absolutely no sense to her. "Yeah, I get that! You know, Liam sings a little; maybe you should do a duet with her!" She laughs as if it was the most hilarious thing ever. She probably thought it's a genius idea. "Yeah, maybe. Well I've got to go now. I'll talk to you later." You said, hanging up and sighing. You dropped your phone on the table, dipping your head into your hands and screaming out the frustration. It was extremely difficult to keep this from her, but you had to. There really was no choice here for you and it sucked.

Louis:

"Why would he tell me that? Like, right in front of (Y/F/N), she could have heard that! Why would he say that to me when they're going out? God... it makes no sense...." You rambled as you paced the floor of your sibling's house. You decided you needed to get out of town for a day or so, so you ventured to your sibling's house to stay the night. They agreed, happily and you went up the night. You told them everything about Louis and so far, they hadn't been able to get a word in as you've been speaking too much. Once you stopped to catch your breath, they chimed in. "I think you should talk to him. I mean, he likes you enough to tell you and you like him. The only thing getting in the way is (Y/F/N) and that can easily be removed... sorta." Your sibling said, voice calm and sounding bored. Maybe they were or maybe they didn't have a clue what to say. "I can't (Y/S/N)! Why do you think I left for the night? I can't... it'll ruin the relationship I have with (Y/F/N) if he leaves her for me. Plus, it's awkward." You huffed, finally sulking into a chair across your relative. They shrugged, giving out a long breath of thought. "Someone's got to speak up sooner or later. You two can't just keep on living knowing that you both like each other and pretending that day never happened."

"But why would he tell me now? Like... why would he shoot me down and then all of a sudden, years later, tell me he likes me?"

"Maybe because he didn't know at the moment and wanted to think and realized that he actually did like you?" Your sibling sounded annoyed but no the stop-talking annoyed but the I-honestly-don't-know-what-to-say annoyed. You sighed again, holding your head up with your fist. "Well I'm not saying anything. I'll wait until he does... because we all know what happened last time I said that I liked him."

"Fine, you do that. But, when he doesn't say anything for months and you're under your own torture, you better say something or I will. Now come on, we're going to miss the movie."

Niall:

After that night, your best friend and you took a few days of a break, both trying to calm down. Eventually, she called you and asked to hang out and talk. You agreed, hoping to get everything settled. As you approached the coffee shop you two always met at, you could see her sitting outside with two coffees, just as you two would always do. You smiled, getting out of the car and feeling as if you were brought back into better days. You walked up to her, her head darting up from her phone to look up at you, a shy smile matching yours growing on her face. "Hey (Y/N)," she said quietly. You sat down, placing your phone on the table. "Hey," you responded. She pushed the full coffee towards you, smiling and nodding, "got that for you. It's your favorite." The conversation didn't seem awkward but seeming that both of you were trying to make it awkward. You realized there's no point in that, trying to talk as if nothing was wrong to see if it could lighten the air around you. "Thanks." You took a sip, closing your eyes for a mere second before returning them to her watching you. "Look, (Y/N), I'm really sorry I read your journal. I shouldn't have and I don't want our friendship to be broken." Her words weren't a surprise to you but more of a comfort. You found safety in her apology and you could genuinely smile at her. "It's okay (Y/F/N), I forgive you. And trust me, I never intended to go out and steal your man from you." She laughed as you cracked an unintentional joke. Her laugh was real, making you even happier. "Thank God!" She joked back. "But in all seriousness, I think I'm in love with him (Y/N) and I know it's insanely rude of me to say but I can't help it... I'm love him..." Her voice lowered as her face deadpanned. You took in a sharp breath, feeling as though you've been shot with news you'd never want to hear. You wanted to slap her and yell at her but you know that wouldn't fix anything. The more you thought about it, the more you realized how well her and Niall worked. They were like two puzzle pieces fitting nearly perfect together. You couldn't mess something like that up. You realized you weren't in her position for a reason and you'd just have to find your own puzzle piece and until then, you'd have to help this puzzle stay together. "Wow..." You breathed, letting out the breath and lowering your cup. "You know, I don't hang out with Niall alone or anything but seeing you two interact together, he looks like he loves you. I can see the sparks between you and it's inspiring. You know what I think? I think you should tell him. He deserves to know. Especially from an amazing girlfriend like you!" You smiled as her head lifted to meet yours, smiling as well. You continued to talk to her in that spot for another hour and a half, laughing and spilling nearly everything. You realized, helping them made you feel happier than anything-even more so than actually being with Niall.
