We went inside to find my parents fast asleep on the couch with J.J sitting in between them, also sound asleep; that explained why they didn't come out to call us. Roland came from the kitchen "I see you love birds are now back to planet earth... Roland becareful...yes ma'am...let me wake the old folks up so they can get a good rest on a proper bed...sure". Greg carried J.J and bade us goodbye
"Kindly let me know when you're home...of course and thank your parents for me when they wake up...will do". I settled in my former room and was drifting off to sleep when I received a text from Greg that they had gotten home.
"Hey, we got home safe and sound"

"Heya...great, that's good to know, thanks once again for being there for me these past few days. God bless you".

"I think I've been thanked enough and I'll have you know, I do it with all pleasure"

"I know but still thank you, I appreciate you and everything you do for me"

"You're welcome_ I guess you'll be going to your apartment tomorrow"

"Yes I will"

"You didn't take your car to your parents' so how would you be going?"

"I'll take a cab, Roland has some personal stuff to take care of, otherwise I would have made him take daddy's car"

"I could pick you up"

"Oh no, that won't be necessary"

"Just let me know when you plan to leave and I'll be there, rather than take a cab and pay so much money which could be used for something else"

"I don't want to take you away from your responsibilities..."

"I insist, if I would be busy, I wouldn't have proposed this, please let me take you home"

"Yes Sir... I'll set off at noon, 12 or 1:00pm, will that be okay with you?"

"That's perfect... I'll leave you to have some rest. See you tomorrow"

"Alright, have a goodnight"

"Sound sleep"

I don't know when I drifted off to sleep, I woke up to the aroma of delicious breakfast, I didn't get the opportunity to tell my parents I would be leaving that day
"Good morning Mummy...good morning dear, how are you feeling this morning?... I'm better mummy...good and your eyes?...I can see better, it was a bit teary when I woke up but it's okay now...we thank God, what time did your friend leave yesterday? I woke up realizing they were gone...yeah a little late...I really like him... mummy please...what? I just said I like him and you should be glad because I didn't say same about your ex-husband...well okay... he's well-mannered and a perfect gentleman...yes he is, mummy I'll be leaving this afternoon...I thought you'll stay for the week...I have some things to take care of and I want to visit Sharon on my way home... alright, I'll visit you over the weekend then...yes please, thank you...are you going with Roland?...I would have, but he said he has to take care of something, he'll come to my place in the evening...okay then I'll ask daddy to take you home...oh no, I wanted to take a cab but Greg offered to pick me up...that man is my kind of man..." dad walked in on us
"who's your kind of man?...oh honey, you of course...better, I thought you were referring to someone else" I just laughed at them, I was happy they still felt strongly about each other after 35 years of being together, I would have wanted such a union but looks like that's not for me, anyway no time for negative thoughts, I was learning that from Greg. We had breakfast as a family and Roland set off to do his business while I got ready to leave...

Greg came in before 12 and my mum took the opportunity to engage him in a conversation and apparently she prepared an early lunch so that Greg could join us, but it would just be the 3 of us because my dad and Roland were out. I joined them with my things ready on the couch
"Hey...hi, how are you doing?... I'm better today and how are you?... I'm great... how's Jayden?... he's great too, he wanted to come with me but I told him you need to rest...so you're confessing...well I know he would certainly report me to you so let me report myself, I'm sure you're not ready for his many questions...aww but I'm okay, you could have brought him... he's a handful, I don't want him to disturb you...if you say so" we finished up, bade my mum goodbye and went on our way.

"Greg can I ask you for a little favour?...sure, what is it?...can we pass by the hospital to see Sharon? Since I was hospitalized I haven't heard from her...of course we can... thank you so much...don't mention". We got to the clinic and I went in to greet some of my colleagues "Dr. Thompson..." I could recognize that voice even in my sleep "...Mary, how are you?... I'm doing well, I've missed you so much, in fact everyone has been asking of you...I've missed you too...I wanted to visit you but a lot of things kept me away... it's fine, I understand...so when will you be resuming?... hopefully next week... alright, did Dr. Mark visit or call you?...no he didn't, why do you ask?...well he's been frolicking with most of the female staff here, I'm glad you didn't give him a chance...hmm, let's just mind our business, I want to go and see Sharon, we'll catch up later...okay sure, take care...I will, you too...greet the fine gentleman for me...Mary I thought you've changed...change and do what?...hahaha, you need help..." I went outside to meet Greg and we went to the hospital's shelter together.
When we asked about Sharon, we were told that her real parents came and demanded to have their daughter but of course the hospital didn't just let them have her, they were asked to present concrete evidence to prove she was theirs and explain why she was abandoned. We were allowed to see her and immediately she saw us, she jumped off her bed to embrace us

"Aunty Vivian, it's been long, I learnt you were sick...I wasn't too well but God healed me so I'm okay now and I've missed you that's why I came to visit... I've missed you too, Uncle Greg...hello dear, how have you been?...good, where's J.J?...he couldn't come with us today but I'll bring him next time to visit you okay?...okay".
I asked her if she liked her parents and wanted to live with them but she said 'no', that they look strict and she doesn't feel comfortable around them

"If they're really your parents, I can't adopt you anymore and you would have to live with them so you have to learn to love them...but I want to live with you...I know, don't worry, let's pray for the best outcome. I want you to know that no matter what, I love you immensely okay?..." she nodded and said okay. We left the place after I had to assure Sharon I will visit again soon. It was difficult to leave her there, she almost made me cry.

"Greg, thank you for the ride and everything you've done for me these past few days...there we go again, with the endless vote of thanks...you may not know this but I haven't met anyone who's so selfless in helping others... that's what friends do and I'm your friend...and you are my friend"

Hi lovely people, it's been long, a lot of things have kept me from updating but I'm gradually coming to the end of this story. You could be someone's friend but is that someone also a friend to you? Or Is it a one-sided friendship?🤔
