Poem 7

Twitch your lips upwards,
Smile.
Smile some more.
Glue this thick mask on.
Smile until you can't take it anymore.

Close the door.
No one is going to come.
Lock it,
Throw away the key.
Stop shouting.
No one will hear your screams.

Without knowing what a true goodbye is,
We speak of leaving so lightly.
What if we never speak again?
Don't take the rope without care.

Who is to blame?
Everyone,
Everyone is all the same.

This life we've been dealt,
It's sadistic.
This hand we've been dealt,
We all hate it,
Without seeing hell.

Life hates us all,
Because we hated life first.
Life hates us who,
Without looking at what we have,
Curse it so shamelessly.

Saying things like
"Kill me already"
And
"I want to die".
Have you ever truly died?
Do you know what's on the other side?

But to live peacefully,
As though nothing could trouble me,
I bet it's wonderful.
I bet it's not possible.
I bet that
It's all a dream.

With words like
"It hurts",
Can I express these tears
That will never fall?
Is anything worth it at all?

If nothing is going to come,
If it's okay to keep this mask on,
We'll all end up laughing forever,
All alone, you know?

Do we really want to laugh alone?
Just like lonely clowns?

Happiness.
Love.
Friendship.
They are things that can be bought-
I am the equivalent of a nice ice cream to everyone.
When I'm finished, I am put away.
Digested.
But my words will never be.

But in the end, we all die.
So let's live as our hearts need to.
And I pick up this pen to say,
Life can love us too.

That is what I want to write about.
Even if my voice dies out,
These words are what I can never shout.

It's okay to frown.
As long as the smile that follows
Is real.
