In a Nutshell....

Start from the beginning

"Sir. I understand this is what Jeremy might have told you. I also understand he is failing most of his classes, including yours. As I have said before, and will say again. I am goth, not an Occult member. I have no religion. I don't interfere with your church time, or communicate with evil. I just don't believe what you do, sir. Please." She explained.

This got her a slap on the face that made her fall on her butt. She think she felt her jaw pop out of place. "Away with your lies, serpent! rid our town of yourself! Begone Satan!" He yelled.

She quickly crawled into the classroom and grabbed her things. At this point, the teacher grabbed her by the hair and threw her out of the classroom. she limped to her locker, gathered her things, and signed out in the office. " This is the third time this week, Addy." the secretary stated.

Mrs. Evaline, the secretary, was actually the one who was the least cruel to her. "I think I need a different home room, this one hits too hard, I think he popped out my jaw. I need to go home and see if I'll be okay."Addy requested.

"I'll see about it. Bye, Addy." Mrs. Evaline nodded.

Addy, tired and hungry, stumbled over to her garage. She knew it was going to hurt like hell, but she got out her bike, dug out some of her hidden cash, and rode the five mile from her house to the next town.

She walked into the dollar store and bought a cup of noodles and a water and payed for it. "Hey, Addy" the clerk peeped, giving her a warm smile."I'm guessing it happened again, didn't it?"

Addy nodded. She was afraid to explain details. She didn't want a whole town arrested for one silly girl. She didn't want to lose her mother because she was being less than satisfactory. "I think the microwave in the back room is on, you can go make those with it. I'll be back there with you in a minute. My shift is almost over." The clerk offered.

She did as she was told. Soon, she was sat down on the cold concrete ground with a warm cup of noodles. When the clerk walked in, she was halfway through. The clerk's name tag read Jenny. After come here for a week, only now did Addy notice that. Jenny was the only person who seemed to care about her in the whole world. Jenny grabbed her hurt knee. Addy guess the ace bandage was visible through her black skinny jeans. She hissed in pain. "Baseball bat? my guess it was aluminum." Jenny reported, letting go.

Addy nodded. "Why do you let them do this to you? Why don't you tell the police?"Jenny sighed.

"Jenny... if i tell the police, they'll find out before the cops can get to them and beat me to silence. It's better to keep quiet. And anyway, what's the good of locking up an entire town?" Addy countered.

Jenny nodded. "i guess i can't really argue with that logic. I'm so sorry you have to live like this, maybe when you're older, you can... I don't know, like come and live with me. Just hang in, Add. Hey, how about i give you a ride home, last I checked, it was raining out, and the last thing a beaten person needs is a cold. come on" Jenny offered.

" Sure, I guess. Just, you have to drop me off on the outskirts, if anyone sees me in a car unknown to the town, it's going to get bad for me." Addy warned.

Jenny nodded. They went out to Jenny's white Prius and put Addy's bike in the trunk.

It was a quiet ride home. as soon as Jenny pulled into town, Addy hopped out. Jenny followed, and got Addy's bike out of the trunk. That's when things went wrong. Addy heard the sound of a shotgun loading. She looked over to see that her old home room teacher had a shot gun cocked and aimed at her. Jenny must've noticed as well, because she quickly jumped in front of Addy.

The gun went off. Jenny's body stiffened. "run" she whispered before falling to the ground.

Out of her shirt rolled a cross necklace. After a slight hesitation, Addy grabbed her bike and pedaled as fast as she could home. she didn't even bother trying to explain what happened to her. She knew her mother wouldn't believe her, and she'd be punished. After Her mother left to the bar, Addy immediately began writing letters. One to Mrs. Evaline, thanking her for being so kind, or lack of cruel. One to her mother, apologizing for never being good enough. One to Jeremy, to tell him the truth, and finally, one to the teacher, to tell him that he pulled the final straw, but it was a team effort through the town, and that per usual, she had did what she was told.

That night, her mother didn't make it home. She'd probably read the note on the table.

**************************

The next morning, there was an assembly in the gym. Addy left the notes, on Mrs. Evaline's and the teacher's desks. The one to Jeremy, she handed to him herself with a solemn face. Of course, the consequence for that was a insult. "to to hell!" he called after her.

He gave him a smile. " I'm on my way, Germy. Just give it a little time." she chirped, walking off.

Time for the assembly finally came. As the roar began to quiet down, Addy stepped out in front of the crowd. This made them silent. " I want all of you to witness what you've done!" she yelled.

She pulled a handgun out of her jacket. That's when the screaming began. This made her laugh a little. she cocked the gun and pointed it at her head.

Even thought she shout this gun a billion times, the trigger seemed harder to pull, but eventually, it shot. BANG!

It was all over, and only a second worth of pain to end a decade of pain. Addy seemed to step aside as she watched herself fall to the ground. Apparently, Jeremy was the only one who didn't make it in on time. He came dashing in, only to see Addy laying on the floor, bleeding from the hole she blasted in her own head.

He held the note Addy wrote for him. Jeremy dropped to his knees beside her and placed her body in his lap. " this is all my fault" he muttered as he began to stroke her lifeless, bloody hair.

"Jeremy! it wasn't you! Well, it was partially, but not all you!" She cried, but he didn't hear.

No one could hear her. Or see her now, only what she left behind on there field of existence. Jeremy picked up her gun, ironically named Thanatos, the Greek god of death, and centered in the middle of his forehead. One of his friends came barreling down the bleachers to stop him, but it was too late. On Addy's side, you hardly heard the shot, but she guessed on the other side, it was probably was louder.

Jeremy pulled through to her side. she began to back away. "Am I not aloud to rest in peace? Why won't you let me go to hell alone!" she cried

Jeremy stared. "Oh my God. You really thought I did hate you, didn't you?" He asked, hanging his head.

She rolled her eyes. "No, I thought you messing up my knee with your new baseball bat was out of pure love, along with all the scars, and bruises, and..."

" Okay! Okay! I get it, I treated you like major shit. I'm sorry. I was honestly jealous of the freedoms you had on choices compared to me. I...I'm so sorry..." he interrupted.

" You're jealous of the girl you considered a demon since preschool. You're jealous of the one who got pushed around, insulted, beat, and straight up picked on since grade school. You are the son of the mayor, you get whatever you fucking want. I couldn't do so much as shop in this town. My life wasn't worth being jealous of. That's why I ended it. The last hope I had got shot by my home room teacher." she babbled.

Jeremy's image wavered. When it came back, he no longer had blonde hair and cowboy boots, but black hair, converse, gauges, and a skull T-shirt. he moved towards her. " I was jealous because you weren't afraid to be you. This is me." He whispered, kissing her.

As he did so, two shadow figures walked up to them. " ah, some more suicides. okay, lovebirds, if you want another chance at life, step right this way."

the shadow said, leading them away.

As Addy always did, she obeyed.
