Phoebe's POV:
On our way to the district, we stopped for coffee first, mainly because I wanted a doughnut and a cappuccino and Erin wanted coffee.
Once we arrived, we walked in through the front, and I saw an older lady with short silver hair at the front desk and when she noticed me and Erin she smiled.
"Hey Erin, who's your friend?" she asked.
"Platt this is Phoebe, she'll be with me for the time being" She looks at Erin confused. So I decided to speak up.
"I'm a witness to their case." I whisper "so now I have like a whole squad of bodyguards."
"Oh you're the Phoebe I did the paperwork on. Well Phoebe it's nice to meet you, I'm Sergeant. Trudy Platt." She smiles.
"You too. Now if you don't mind I think there's a unit of boys upstairs that I'm in need of tormenting." She laughs
"I like her." She tells Erin laughing.
"Oh yeah, Severide told me she was putting the boys in their place yesterday." Platt looks at me impressed.
"Well someone had to do it." I tell her and start making my way upstairs after we say bye to each other. When I get upstairs I see everyone at their desk talking to one another.
"Hey guys" I make myself known and I see Voight coming out of his office
"Hey" They all say in at the same time and I smile at them.
"Hey kid" Voight says walking towards me.
"Hey Voight, you miss me."
"Of Course" He squeezes my shoulder and I smile at him.
"Good because I would like to offer my services, so put me to work boss." I tell him and he looks at me like I'm joking "Oh I'm being serious. I want to help!"
"How will you help?" Adam asked.
"Well Adam, who's better to help than the actual witness herself. I mean maybe I saw more than I realized and I just blocked it out because I was scared or I didn't think it was important." Everyone looks at me shocked, they most definitely didn't expect me to actually help. I mean I'd have to be pretty crazy. And maybe I am. "What?"
"That's smart!" Al tells me and I just grin.
"Okay you can help"
"Great. Now can I see my camera, and can we print off all the pictures I took that morning?" I asked
"What are you getting at?" Antonio asked with a proud smile, almost like he knew what my answer would be.
"Well, if I look at all of them in the order they were taken, maybe we could get a better angle, find a different lead, a clue to what really happened, or even what car they drive." I tell them
"I was right!" He states proudly and I looked up at him very confused.
"Right about what?" I asked confused. He keeps smiling at me.
"You would make one hell of a cop one day, or detective for that matter." He says, "I'm going to go start printing those pictures for you." With that he walks out of the room while everyone else is still looking at me.
"He's right" Voight says, "you would be one great detective in the future." I look around to see everyone nodding along with him. I look down and smile to myself.
"You really think so?"
"Yeah. Listen no one here thought to look at ALL the photos you took that morning" Jay says to me, "and you have some killer instincts, and you follow them. Without you this would just be another cold case that would never get anymore leads on. You took these pictures because your gut was telling you that something was about to happen, and you were right. I mean you trusted the best firehouse in all of Chicago to help you, and they called us. So just always go with your gut."
"He's right, ya know. You have the mind of a cop. And you weren't raised around cops so it all just comes to you naturally, like you were meant to do this." Erin tells me
"I mean you're here right now trying to help even though; I know you know it's dangerous for you." Al tells me
"It's worth it though, when we catch this guy who knows what it could open up, what other cold cases it could solve. There's so much riding on this." I tell them
"You just said 'we'." Kevin says
"Huh?"
"You said 'when we catch this guy' not 'us', 'we'." Adam says
"Oh"
What if they're right? Could I do this for a living? Am I made for this? But most importantly, am i strong enough to handle all of it?
