Chapter 1 Ava

This is the worst first day of 2nd grade. I've already had juice spilled on me, and we took a super long nap today.

I asked the teacher, "Can I call my mommy?"

"No, but what do you need?" The teacher says

This is the worst day ever. I want to go home.

"It's only the first day. We have just begun. The day will get better." The teacher promises

At the end of the day, mom picked me up and I told her how my day was, but she wasn't really listening, just acting like she was. At home, she told me to go play outside, so I'm outside sitting around playing with my toys when a woman asks me if she can play with me, I told her yes because she seemed nice and joyful and, out of nowhere, she picks me up and starts running.

"Mommy! Mommy! Help!" I scream as the woman is running with me.

she told me to shut up and if I didn't, I wouldn't get any toys, but I kept screaming. My mom didn't hear me; she was working. I started to cry, screaming for my mom. The lady put me in a minivan that already had a car seat. She drove us into Virginia and into a town house, but it was out in the country.

She asked, "Do you want a snack, Sophia?"

I'm confused because my name is Ava, but she called me Sophia.

"OK," I say, worriedly.

"I know you are scared, but I have a room for you downstairs. It's ready for you and everything. It has toys and a bed." She told me

We went downstairs and she showed me this room that looked like it was made for a kid already, as if she had a kid.

She hurriedly got out of the room and closed the door behind her and locked it from the outside

I started screaming for her to let me out, but I heard her go up the stairs. I laid down on the bed and slowly fell asleep.
