background. in their youth, anubis's parents betrayed a witch. a powerful witch who didn't take betrayal lightly. when anubis was born, the witch showed up on the night after his first birthday and killed his parents slowly and sadistically in the next room. the witch came into his room in the early hours of the morning and looked down at him in his crib. this baby had done nothing to her, so why kill him? however he was the spawn of those whom had betrayed her sacred trust so she still had a disliking towards the child. and what fun it would be to hurt his parents in the afterlife by bestowing a curse on their son.
she cursed anubis to become a half blood. but not a normal half blood, a snake half blood. a freak of nature that shouldn't exist. he would look human, but would half snake like abilities and characteristics which would cause society to fear and despise him. he would be the spawn of satan which no one would ever love or hold.

this was how anubis grew up, shunned by society and scared out of town and into the forest far away from the outlands where he had been born.
