Minutes passed by and Nikki couldn't help but think something must be happening, whether it was Max's mom that slowed Max down or something else, it surely wasn't the quick trip Max said it would be.

A cold chill ran through Nikki's spine, making her become more aware of her surroundings.

"What's wrong?" Lucas asked noticing the girl tense beside him and her eyes scanning the area.

"I don't know," Nikki shook her head before opening up the car door. "Stay here."

"Wha- Nikki you can't use your powers remember!" Lucas opened his door to try to stop her. His heart was racing in fear of losing her for good.

"I'll be fine," Nikki said, worrying more for her friends' safety than her own. "Please, just stay here."

Lucas wanted to argue with her more, to try to get her to stop. But he knew it was no used, she was stubborn when it came to protecting people.

However, Nikki must have seen how worried he was. Her features softened and gave him a small smile. "I'll be right back. I promise."

With those last words, Nikki turned and ran into Max's back yard as Max fell on her back.

"Max!" Nikki ran over to the girl, who had a wild look in her eyes, and reached her hand out to help her up. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine," Max scowled and stood up by herself before starting to walk back to the car.

"M-Max?" Nikki starting to chase after the car, still in shock with how cold Max was being.

The girls rounded the corner with Max in the lead, to see all three of the guys outside the car waiting for them.

"Hey, that was longer than 20 seconds," Steve said, not noticing how both of the girls had worried looks on their faces. Finally he caught on as Max reached for the door handle. "Hey, whoa, whoa. You all right?"

"I'm fine. Just drive." Max disappeared into the car, leaving the guys to look at Nikki for answers.

With a shrug from Nikki, they piled in the car as Dustin looked back at Max. "Did something happen?"

"Can we please just go?" Max pleaded as the guys looked once again to Nikki.

"Just drive," Nikki said quietly, getting Steve to start driving, to wherever they needed to go next.

Nikki couldn't believe Max wanted to stop at a cemetery, of all places to go. But then she remembered Billy at the mall just a few months ago, and she understood what Max wanted to do. She wanted to talk to Billy again. And judging from the piece of paper Max had been playing with the whole ride there, she had a few things to say to him.

They pulled up and parked as close as they could get with the grave sight but it still was a good walk away. As Max got out of the car to start her walk, Nikki couldn't help but feel useless. Here her best friend was in a fight for her life and Nikki couldn't even get her to open up to her.

"I'll be right back," Nikki muttered as she got out of the car, and trying to stop Max before she got too far. "Max?"

Max turned to her, seeing her run to catch up to her. "Nikki, please, just wait in the car."

"Max, just wait. Please, Max."

"Nikki-"

"Just listen to me. Two minutes, please," Nikki asked as she finally caught up to her. Max stayed quiet, letting the girl continue. "Look, I know something happened to you in your backyard. Was it Vecna?"
