❝being friends is a starting point to lovers❞

chapter nine | jealousy

As today is Sunday, they aren't going anywhere. Kendall takes up the opportunity to roam around the stalls. She wears a white corset and black cargo pants for the current fashion. She straighten the black gatsby hat as she sees herself in the mirror.

"It suits you." Her smiles dims a little when she finds him standing behind her. Her heart threatens to break out of the rib cage as he stands behind her with a comforting smile.

She turns to look at him. "What are you doing here?"

He looks around and again gazes at her. "Is there any restriction for me not to come here?"

She shakes her head. "I am sorry. What I mean is shouldn't you be relaxing after such tiring yesterday event?"

"Shouldn't you too?"

Kendall turns back to ask the shopkeeper about the sum of the hat and pays for it. Yesterday, the same blonde tagged with him during the entire picnic making Kendall imaginary dig holes in that girl's body.

Her smiles widen when she finds a bookstore and without any glance to her crush, she walks to the shop.

"Hey, wait for me." Her pace quicken as she walks faster to the shop.

The old man smiles at her as she smiles at him. "Hello, young lady, what may I help you with?"

She looks around the racks of books stacked in a proper way. She turns to look at the romance category and finds her favourite book, The Song Of Achilles. She forgot to bring her books for which she seeks to find here. She also finds her other favourite books like A Mountain Sing, On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous, A Virgin Suicides.

"A Virgin Suicides? What's it about?" She rolls her eyes listening to source.

"Its about sisters from a family committing suicide for individual reasons. It's kind of depressing by the way." She tells him. A faint click sounds from behind and when she turns back, she finds him clicking photos of the bookshelf opposite to her.

"Do you like photography?" She asks him as she pulls out The Flying Kite from the rack and gives the old man to calculate the sum.

"Yes, I do. It's a kind of hobby I want to keep." She smiles at him making him smile back at her.

"Do you have any hobby?" She collects the bags and with a small thank you to the shopkeeper, she walks out from the shop but halts when she meets a familiar face.

"Hudson?" The boy turns to look at the girl he met few days ago.

His eyes widen in recognition. "Kylie?"

"Kendall." She corrects him.

"Oh, I am sorry. I recently liked Kylie's post and that's the name I came up with when I saw you." Kendall furrows her brows chuckling lightly.

"How are you?"

"I am fine." He then meets the glare of the person behind her. "Who is he?"

Kendall momentarily forgot about Grayson's presence so she gives jerk reaction to both the males. She turns to find Grayson staring at her waiting for the introduction. "Why don't you both get well acquainted by yourself?" She gives him the stage to do.

He looks front with his shoulder broaden a little. "Hi, I am Grayson Danksworth."

"Hudson, only Hudson." Both of them shake their hands firmly.
