14. The Day When Joe Stayed With Heaven

Start from the beginning

Nah.

She laughed at the silliness of this whole situation and went off in another direction, yelling. "See you later!"

Yet again in life, Heavenly had sent him off with a lie. She wasn't supposed to meet anyone, but it crossed her mind that she should buy a Christmas present for Jordan. It's all in one, a thanks for staying and a thanks for being her friend overall. He deserved something. That is why he couldn't go with her. It was a surprise.

On the other hand, Jordan found a present for her two days before. It was a pretty silver necklace with a star keychain. He hid it inside of his closet, intending to give it to her. If he could not speak up about how he was feeling, he could at least give her a present.

So the two went to get things they wanted. Jordan returned home first and waited for her.

"What time is it?" he checked out time on his phone. His brows rose. "Past four already? What is she doing?"

He already took a shower and had little something to eat. There was some family show on TV that aired when he was a little kid and it occupied his attention for a while. Doing all those things never made him think that time is thicking by so fast. He got worried a bit, even though he knew that Heaven could chat with her friends for a whole day straight and not get tired of it. Joe glanced out the window. It snowed even more than earlier. Good thing that he gave her his clothes.

Parker wondered if he should put all the decorations up and surprise her. Maybe she wanted to do them together, or by herself? Even so, if she is this late, it is better if he does it in advance. She could still take it all off and put it back on as she pleases.

So he did. Eventually, the whole living room of her apartment was covered in shiny ties, decorative balls and shining lights. It looked pretty good to Jordan. He even got a small Christmas tree height to his knees and decorated it in red and gold. They haven't specified at which of the two apartments they were gonna be, but he chose hers so that she could still look at the decorations after Christmas passes.

By the time he finished, it was five already. He decided to phone her just to check if everything's alright.

In the meantime, it was long after Heavenly got what she thought was a perfect present for him. She bought a dark blue sweatshirt with 'good boy' printed on it in white letters. It looked like it would fit him perfectly. She didn't intend for such print, yet the cloth she found had it on, and she figured it wouldn't be so bad. After that, Heavenly got him a scarf too. Black one, since this one on her was old and a bit ripped at one place.

After finishing all that, she sat in one coffee shop for good coffee. It was freezing so she had to warm up before going home. Besides that, the girl needed some alone time to clear her thoughts and regain calmness again. It bothered her that she wasn't with Maxx. Well, not that they don't see each other very often, but she was really looking forward to it. Lost in mind, time ticked by, and she didn't even remember to look at it until it was about four thirty.

Heaven paid for her drink neatly and walked out, tucking her neck more into Joe's scarf. She smiled, feeling proud of her present for him, and walked down the sidewalk. Yet again she didn't go straight to home, but decided to walk around a bit.

Her phone rang.

Maxx's name was written on it. Her heart skipped a beat. She picked up. He just wanted to see how she was doing and talk for a bit. Heavenly explained to him that Jordan decided to stay with her because she couldn't go home to her mother. He got quite upset when he heard she couldn't go home because he didn't have a clue about it.
