13 | Just a Load of 'I told you so'

Start from the beginning

"We didn't really think ahead, so we're planning on talking after filming tonight."

Flo nods her head, starting to smirk. I know what that means but, quite frankly, I'm not in the mood to deny anything today.

"What?"

"Nothing. Just a load of 'I told you so'!" Flo says, poking my sides. I squirm as she starts to poke me all around.

"Okay, okay. Shut up!"

A few minutes go by and we start to walk over to the table read where everyone is. Johnny catches sight of me, waving a warm hello and flashing a smile. I wave a hello back and notice Taraji and Hailee across the room talking.

I take in every feature of Hailee while she's still oblivious that I'm staring. That doesn't last long seeing as Taraji notices, nudging Hailee. She turns in my direction as she smiles at me. I detect a little flushed color on her face. Damn, she's blushing. If she's blushing, I'm more than that.

Is it possible to feel that way?

A few minutes roll by and everyone's pretty much here. All of a sudden, Spielberg comes into the room with Madison next to him.

My smile fades and turn to Flo. She's peeved too. She looks every bit of being ready to pounce any minute. The funny part is I wouldn't even stop her at this point. I've learned from experience never to stand in Flo's way. Believe me, I've had to learn to hard way.

We start to take our seats and I happen to be placed in between Flo and Hailee. That's completely fine. I'm not complaining at all.

"Hey," a whisper from my right comes into my ears as I turn in its direction. I smile to see Hailee.

"Hey, there. You okay?"

I nod at her response and turn to Flo, who's definitely having a hard time keeping herself together

I nod at her response and turn to Flo, who's definitely having a hard time keeping herself together. I then give her a little nudge. She nudges me a little harder, making it clear she's about to explode.

Flo, what am I gonna do with you?

"Okay, then. Attention, everyone!" Spielberg says, standing in front of everyone. All people in the room drop dead silent.

"Welcome to the table read. I'm happy you all are here. Allow me to introduce the newest member of the cast, Madison Bailey."

Hailee's face immediately turns sour as her eyes follow Madison take a seat right behind me. I'm honestly feeling very uncomfortable as it is. This is pure torture. I'm pretty sure Hailee feels the same way.

I hear Flo groan a little bit at the sight of Madison right behind me, making me laugh a little bit.

"I don't know why you're laughing. This shouldn't be legal." Flo says, subtly pointing to Madison's close proximity. "Just leave it be."

The table read starts and I feel I'm getting through with my character, Hailee's character and the others. I get everything down, all apart from Madison's. I've been debating if I should. But then I must... it's my job. Stay professional.

Turns out that Spielberg's changed the script to my character not only figuring out her sexuality, but to also choosing between Hailee's and Madison's character.

Someone kill me now.

I've been going around familiarizing myself with everyone, working out our vibes and whatnot. It goes well, until I've got no choice but to go to Madison.

I clear my throat, "Madison, seems your character has ties to mine in more ways to one so..."

Madison doesn't waste a minute standing up and starting to work. "Got it," most of my being is fighting the urge to leave but I talk myself into doing a few brief minutes of familiarity with her. Not that I need it though. Just her being this close to me sends me back to when we'd been together. Not that I still care, but the ordeal still runs in the back of my mind.

"Why hello there!" Flo walks up to me, almost running now that I come to think of it.

"Hey!"

"Wasn't talking to you, Bailey." Florence runs past her and makes her way in between Madison and I. I sigh in relief and nudge Flo a thank you. She gets it and gives me a wink.

"Sorry to interrupt. But Taraji's calling you over."

"Umm... okay. Practice more after?"

"I think we've got it down," my voice is low and my eyes are anywhere but laid on her. She sighs and walks away to Taraji.

"Thank you, Flo. You're a lifesaver."

"That's what best friends are for. Now I think we're supposed to take off to wardrobe. Filming starts in an hour."

"Okay, then. Let's go." I say, standing up. Before we can walk away, Hailee catches up.

"Wardrobe?" I nod my head in response to Hailee's question.

"Let's go!"

Within minutes, wardrobe is filled with the cast. Everyone's being given an attire for the first scenes that they have to do. No different for us, the three of us are given clothes for the scenes.

"I think this is very you," a laugh escapes my lips as Hailee holds up a frilly scarf from the table. Florence sneers at Hailee, "Haha, very funny."

"C'mon, Flo. It's not like you don't pull it off better than the rest of us here."

"I'll take that as a compliment."

"It was."

"It'd better be."

"I just said it was." Flo's eyes roll at me, causing me to shove her a little. She sticks out her tongue at me. Girl's for sure a child when it comes to things like this.

"Okay, we've got all we need for now."

"To the set!"
