Getting involuntary dragged away from the park by a stranger with horns

Start from the beginning

"I haven't seen you before, are you new here in town?" The stranger suddenly turns his head to me.
I don't know what to say, so I just burst out:
"Yeah... eh, this is my first visit."
"I really hope you like this little city then."
"Mm, it's nice. Do you live here?"
"Not really, I live in a house away from all the people." The masked man hesitates for a second, before he goes on. "Excuse me for my insolence. I haven't intruduced myself properly. My name is Dream."

Dream? Like dreams? Another odd thing about this stranger.
"Well, I'm Tommy."
"Nice to meet you, Tommy.
"You too, Dream."
I can suddenly feel Dream look at me in another way.
"I'm sorry if it seems rude, but Tommy, don't you freeze out here without a jacket? I mean, you have short sleeves and all."
"Oh!" I desperately think of something to say. "I just... forgot my jacket at home?" The last words sound more like a question.
"Okay then." Dream chuckles. "Well, I know a place were you can-"

But our conversation gets cutt of, as a hand grabs my wrist and pulls me up. When I look up at the interrupter, it's actually the boy with the ram horns.
"Oh, there you are!" he starts to babble. "I've been looking for you for ages, we gotta go now!"
The guy turns to Dream, who's mask watches us with a indecipherable expression, and continues his rambling:
"Sorry, but we gotta go home now, to do... the homework, you know?"

And before I understand what's going on, the short boy have dragged me out off the park and through the streets. I'm still too suprized to put up a fight. Not until we've passed at least five quarters, the guy stops and lets go off my wrist.

"Okay," the boy begins, "before you begin, I must say that it was necessary."

It takes me a moment to remember how to speak, but then the words flow out.

"Necessarily? He was really nice, just wanted to make small talk, and then you come and go 'oh, come here' and drag me away! Like, why would anyone ever do something like that?"

"Well," the hybrid begins cautiously, "Dream was in jail not too long ago for repeatedly manipulating, gaslighting, and physically hurting people. Each case seems to have started with him just making small talk with his victims. I. .. I didn't want the same thing to happen to you. You can hate me and never want to see me again, that's okay, but whatever you do get back to him!"

Had that nice and  man been in prison? For manipulating and hurting people? The thought was shocking.

But somewhere inside me, I knew this strange boy didn't lie. Dream's ingratiating voice and charming way to put his words, like he wanted to make me trust him...
And that strange little hybrid, had dragged away me, a complete outsider to me, from the danger.
I turned to the guy, and said with a low voice:
"Thank you."

The guy smiled a bright smile. "No worries. I'm Tubbo, by the way."
"Tommy, it's a pleasure to be dragged away by you."
Tubbo laughed. "Once again, no worries. But," his voice became more curious, "you're new here, ain't you?"
I smiled back. "Dream asked pretty much the same question, and I'll give the same answear: Yes, this is my first visit."
"You don't live here in L'manburg, right? I would've heared if someone moved in."
"No, I don't live here."
"Where do you come from then? Kinoko Kingdom? Snowchester? Badlands?" Tubbo frowned. "You're not from Las Nevadas, ain't you?"

I was pretty sure he'd not like the honest answear: From an orphanage several weeks away. I had a feeling that if I said that I came from one of those cities, it would end up in him knowing that I lied. But on the other hand, it was unthinkable that I'd say the truth - I was literally a pet.

"Well, I said after some hesetation "I just moved into a really small village a bit away from here, I don't even know if it has a name. My mother homeschools me, so I won't go to a school like other kids, but she allows me to go for walks like this."

Tubbo seemed pleased. "I get it. Sad that you don't live in L'manberg though, there's not many in our age here."
"Really? How many then?"
"Well, there's me and Ranboo, he's the tall black n' white guy you might saw with me before. We have Purpled, a little youngster running around here in his free time, trying to see and know everyting all off the time. He'll know that something's going on on exact that spot before it even happens. And then there's Wilbur and Techno, but don't even try talking to them. They're just boring and badass, won't even look at us in school."
Tubbo didn't seem to notice how I slightly flinched at the names 'Wilbur and Techno'.

Both off us went quiet.  This guy seemed nice, and if I was lucky, I'd might gotten a friend to hang out with. But I didn't really know what to ask him about to know him better. Family? I'd just have to lie more, and it would be hard to not get tangled in the lies. Pets? A bit off a sensitive subject for me. Background? Also a fragile topic.

And at that moment, my stomach decided it was time to protetst against the lack of food, and start to rumble.
"Oh, are you hungry?" Tubbo asked. Without listening to my protests, he takes off his backpack and opens it. After  looking around in it for a while, he pulls out a sandwich and gives it to me. I grab it and start eating it. Not until I'm halfway through, I realize that I probably should take it slower.

"Thank you again, but it wasn't necessary," I press out between the bites.
Tubbo chuckles. "Really? In my eyes it seemed like you starved."
"I could've just gone home," I muttered.
"But then I wouldn't have anyone to talk to, "Tubbo smiles.
"But that Ranboo guy then? Can't you hang out with him?"
"Ranboo..." Tubbo made a stiff smile and rubbed his hair, as if I'd touched a sensetive point.
"Did you two fight? I heard earlier when you two walked passed me that you had an intense debate about spaghetti or something like that."
"You actually heard us?" Tubbo giggled. "No, that was one of our more or less normal conversations. Ranboo... he's in school now."
"And you aren't?"
"What do you mean? It's healthy to ditch french class now and then!"
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I just asked."
"Alright."

We looked at each other and smiled. I got more and more sure as I spent time with this goat boy, that he was a loyal frind that I'd enjoy hanging out with.
Suddenly, Tubbo looked at his left arm, where a wristwatch sat. It showed half past 2. Tubbo sighed.
"I'm really sorry, but I gotta go now. Mom would get mad if I truanted too much."
"I guess I have to go to," I said.
"Goodbye then. It was nice meeting you, Tommy."
"Goodbye, Tubbo."

Tubbo put on his backpack again and began to walk away. I looked after his shape slowly dissappearing in the crowd. When we spoke, it had been so easy to ask him things, but now that he'd said goodbye, it was like I had to let him go. At the very last second, I gathered myself and ran after him. The cold autumn air spread through my T-shirt, but I baerly noticed it. I had to find Tubbo again!

At last, I discerned his green shirt in the crowd. I ran upp to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned with a suprised look.
"Tommy? Is it something?"
I panted heavily after the run, but after a minute I managed to say what I wanted:
"Tubbo... could we hang out tomorrow? Like, if we meet up here after your school has finished?"
Tubbo looked at me with a suprized expression on his face, before he smiled a bright smile.
"Of coure we can! I can introduce you to Ranboo, if you'd like!"
"Sure, why not?"
"Great! Look out for creepy masked guys, and I'll see you tomorrow then!"
"As you wish!"
Tubbo waved at be, and continiued walking. I felt a nice warm feeling inside my chest. I let it warm me for a few seconds, before I turned and started walking home, letting the cold octoberwind sweap it away.

I really had to get a jacket until tomorrow.

----------------------------

Since Tommy has grown up on an orphanage, he doesn't know "Stranger danger", just gotta point that out.

And it's cold on a cloudy Octoberday, so don't forget to bring your jacket and eat breakfast.
