Chapter 6

-003/Trisha Henderson POV-

"You're positive that was Dart?" asked Lucas, we were walking over to the Byer's house.
"Yes, he had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt" said Dustin.
"He was tiny two days ago" said Max.

"Well, he's moulted three times already" said Dustin.
"Malted?" asked Steve.
"Moulted" corrected Dustin. "Shed his skin to make room for growth like hornworms"

"When's he gonna moult again?" asked Max.
"It's gotta be soon" said Dustin. "When he does, he'll be fully grown, or close to it. And so will his friends"
"Yeah and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats" said Steve.

"Wait, a cat?" asked Lucas. "Dart ate a cat?"
"No, what? No" said Dustin.
"What are you talking about?" said Steve. "He ate Mews"

"Mews? Who's Mews?" asked Max.
"Our cat" I said.
"Hey!" shouted Dustin.

"I knew it!" shouted Lucas. "You kept him!"
"No!" shouted Dustin.
"Dustin..." I scolded. "No more lying"

"He missed me!" he said. "He wanted to come home"
"Bullshit!" shouted Lucas.
"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, okay?" said Dustin.

"Oh, so now you admit it?" asked Lucas.
"Guys, who cares?" asked Max. "We have to go"
"I care!" shouted Lucas. "You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!"

"So did you!" yelled Dustin.
"What?" said Lucas.
"You told a stranger the truth!" shouted Dustin, shining his torchlight right in Max's face.

"A stranger?" scoffed Max.
"You wanted to tell her too!" shouted Lucas.
"Yeah but I didn't, Lucas! Okay? I didn't tell her!" shouted Dustin.

I heard the screeching of the Demogorgon's again...
"We both broke the rule of law, okay?" said Dustin. "So we're even, we're even"
"No, no!" shouted Lucas. "We're not even. Don't even try that! Your stupid pet could have ate us for dinner!"

"That was not my fault!" shouted Dustin.
"Guys?" I asked, but I was ignored. "Guys!"
They finally heard the screeching as well.

"No, no, no" said Max. "Hey guys, why are you headed towards the sound?"
"I don't see him" said Dustin.
"It's the lab" said Lucas and it made me freeze... "They were going back home"

"It'll be okay, Trisha" said Steve.
"I... I do not want to go back there" I whispered. "Steve... don't make me go back there"
"We're just gonna take a look" he said. "We'll be with you"

We walked towards the lab, where at the entrance we found Jonathan and Nancy...
"What are you doing here?" asked Nancy.
"What are you doing here?" asked Steve.

"We're looking for Mike and Will" said Nancy.
"They're not in there, are they?" asked Dustin.
"We're not sure" said Nancy.

"Why?" asked Jonathan.
But his question was answered by the screeching of the monsters.
Suddenly the power went back on and they tried to open the gate.

But even with Dustin trying to push the button, it didn't open.
Until, it suddenly did...
"Hey! I got it!" said Dustin proudly.

"Guys" said Max, cars were coming out of the lab.
"Get back, Max!" I shouted and pulled her back before a car could hit her.
The chief stopped...
"Let's go" he said.
"Hopper?" I asked, but we all got in his car.

We arrived at the Byer's house, and it was quiet...
Will was apparently under the control of the shadow monster, Joyce had injected him with something so he's stay unconscious...
Hopper tried to call some higher ups, but it did not go well.

"They didn't believe you, did they?" asked Dustin.
"We'll see" said Hopper.
"We'll see?" asked Mike. "We can't just sit here while those things are loose!"

"We stay here, and we wait for help" said Hopper and left the room.
After a while Mike stood up and got something out of the next room.
"Did you guys know that Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV?" he asked.

"Really?" asked Lucas.
"He petitioned the school to start it and everything" said Mike. "Then he had a fund-raiser for equipment. Mr. Clarke learned everything from him. Pretty awesome, right? We can't let him die in vain"
"What do you want to do, Mike?" asked Dustin. "The Chief's right on this. We can't stop those Demo-dogs on our own"

"Demo-dogs?" asked Max and I at the same time.
"Demogorgon dogs" said Dustin. "Demo-dogs. It's like a compound. It's like a play on words..."
"Okay" said Max.

"I mean, when it was just Dart, maybe..." he said.
"But there's an army now" said Lucas.
"Precisely" said Dustin.

"His army" said Mike.
"What do you mean?" asked Steve.
"His army" repeated Mike. "Maybe if we stop him, we can stop his army too"

Mike grabbed a drawing Will made, it was of the shadow monster.
"The shadow monster" said Dustin.
"It got Will that day on the field" said Mike.

"That's why I couldn't go in his head" I said and they looked at me. "Because it wasn't Will's mind anymore"
"The doctors said it was like a virus, it infected him" said Mike.
"And so this virus, it's connecting him to the tunnels?" asked Max.

"To the tunnels, monsters, the Upside Down, everything" said Mike. "That would explain why Three had trouble getting into Will's mind"
"Whoa, slow down, slow down" said Steve.
"Okay, so, the shadow monster's inside everything" explained Mike. "And if the vines feel something like pain, then so does Will"

"And so does Dart" said Lucas.
"Yeah, like what Mr. Clarke taught us" said Mike. "The hive mind"
"Hive mind?" I asked.

"A collective consciousness" said Dustin. "It's a super-organism"
"And this is the thing that controls everything" said Mike. "It's the brain"
"Like the mind flayer" said Dustin.
"The what?" asked Max.
