Now walking together outside in the darkness of the night which the captain had insisted they went instead of her office. She continued on, complaining about the sudden appearance of the teenager and how it gave her a heart attack.
"Sorry," He apologized again for the fifth time that night.
"Besides that, can you change the color of your hair whenever you want?"
"Uhm, I used to be able to. I'm wearing a wig and colored contacts today because I haven't been able to change back for quite some time now." Y/n further explained to the woman whom he's just realized he doesn't know the name of. Thinking it would be rude to ask this far on in the conversation, he decided to just slip in the question somewhere down the road. That train of thought stopped when another question about the woman popped up in his head. "If you don't mind me asking this, why did you help me?"
"Huh?" The detective tilted her head a bit, trying to remember what exactly she helped him with prior to this interaction.
"That night, at the Red Bomb--why did you let me escape?"
The vampire watched the look of realization contort on her face. The look quickly turned into confusion as if she also didn't know the answer to his question. "That- that's a bit complicated to answer." She awkwardly cleared her throat before she began again, "To be honest, I don't know myself. I guess I've just never seen a vampire quite like you before."
He was taken aback by this, yet he managed to keep a composed expression as the words registered. He couldn't quite explain it, but he felt an assurance that he could trust her with anything and she would keep it confidential. The vampire thought of revealing his identity, scanning the vicinity for any possible presence and subtly inhaling for any scent of another creature. He let out a deep breath before starting, "Are you aware of what I really am?"
The detective was confused once more at the sudden change in his voice. She thought about his words some more before speaking, "I've heard about white-haired vampires, yes, but there hasn't been much research done about them."
Y/n briefly unclenched his balled-up fists. "It's beyond my knowledge if there are others on this earth. But, I'm a pureblood." He stuttered out nervously. "I was born one, a vampire."
"I thought as much."
The pureblood snapped his head down to her in surprise before he mentally flicked his own forehead, of course, she would have known she was a detective for crying out loud.
"Y/n, why did you really come out here to see me this late?"
The vampire tried not to seem all that startled by her question for he knew the answer but wasn't sure how she would react. He'd hate for her to think of him oddly though he felt as if he'd already shared quite a lot already. An unusual feeling settled in his stomach that he had grown familiar with. The once relaxed atmosphere that both beings had grown to enjoy quickly turned into one of high tension. Y/n repeatedly clenched and unclenched his fists, pressing down just hard enough to knick his palms.
He opened his mouth but was dismayed when a single airy word just slipped out. The detective raised a suspicious brow, impatiently tapping a calloused finger against her thigh.
"I need your help." He finally stated. Y/n didn't let the set expression leave his face and he maintained eye contact with the redhead. He wasn't going to let her out of this after all, she could be one of the only people he can trust with his goal.
A look of knowing contorted onto her face, she chuckled a little before responding, "Loosen up a bit wouldya? I'd love to help you but I'm gonna need some more details first."
