Teasing

It was the middle of the afternoon on Angel Island, home to the great Master Emerald. It was also home to the boyfriend of Rouge the Bat. They had started dating just two days ago, and she came to visit

Rouge: Hey Knuckles!

Knuckles: Did you.. need something?

Rouge: All I need is this handsome package~ I'll be alright after that!

Knuckles: Well, it's right there

He said, thinking she was talking about the giant jewel behind him. She sat on the emerald and leaned down to kiss the echidna on the head

Knuckles: Hey! D-Don't do that!

Rouge: It was just a kiss!

She sat next to him and leaned on his shoulder. She squeezed his arm slightly and giggled

Rouge: I love a man with muscles~

Knuckles: Why are you suddenly interested in me and not the emerald?

Rouge: Because I love you! Isn't that obvious? You matter more to me than some silly old emerald!

Her boyfriend was surprised at the comment, and he blushed madly as the bat laid on his lap and closed her eyes

Knuckles: I.. I love you too...

Rouge: I know you do!

She opened her eyes again and smiled at him as the echidna petted her head

Rouge: Would you ever want to tell your friends we're dating?

Knuckles: They will forever tease me about it, but I guess I will

Rouge: Sonic will definitely not leave you alone, will he?

Knuckles: Obviously not

He rolled his eyes as Rouge chuckled softly. The bat moved to become more comfortable and smirked

Rouge: Prepare yourself for Shadow's overprotective nature as well~

Knuckles: Oh yeah. Shadow...

Rouge: Don't worry, babe! He's just looking out for me!

After a few moments of silence and just the sounds of the nature around them, Knuckles decided to break the silence

Knuckles: Rouge?

Rouge: Hm?

Knuckles: Have you.. Have you ever dated or liked someone before?

Rouge: Hm.. I never dated anyone before, but I remembered I kissed a girl at a party once!

Knuckles: A girl?

Rouge: Mhm! I'm bisexual!

The echidna looked down at his new girlfriend and shrugged before leaning back on the emerald

Rouge: I did like Shadow at one point! I mean- He's sexy! How could I have not thought that when we first met?! But I found I thought of him as a brother and ended up falling for you~

Knuckles: That's a little weird to think you liked him

Rouge: I know right?

Knuckles: Sonic used to ship you guys so much

He told Rouge and heard her laugh

Knuckles: What?

Rouge: Haha! It's just funny!

Knuckles: Ah, okay..

After another moment of silence, the echinda asked another question

Knuckles: Rouge, uh.. how long have you liked me?

Rouge: I'd say since Black Doom!

She answered honestly, and her boyfriend nodded while continuing to pet Rouge's large ears.

Knuckles: I feel like a jerk for not noticing..

Rouge: Well, you are a bit dumb

Knuckles: Hey!

Rouge: I'm just teasing, sweetheart!

She smiled as she sat up and faced him, then ruffled the top of his head

Rouge: I'm glad I can be like this with you, Knux..

Knuckles: Me too, Rouge

They hugged, and Rouge kissed the echinda on his head before standing up and stretching when she heard a plane. More specifically, the tornado. They both looked up and saw it flying towards the island

Rouge: I should go! See you around red!

Knuckles: See you around Rouge..

She blew him a kiss and took off. Her boyfriend smiled and blushed, then looked over at the incoming plane

Knuckles: What trouble do you bring to me and my emerald now? Huh?

Sonic: For once, it's just a visit! But it seems you got already got a visit from your lady!

The hedgehog teased his friend as he hopped off the plane and onto the grass. And Knuckles rolled his eyes

Knuckles: I need to tell you two something

Tails: Anything, Knuckles!

He smiled as he jumped down from the plane as well

Knuckles: Uh.. Well..

The enchidna rubbed his neck awkwardly and glanced away briefly, but he saw Rouge still flying away in the distance, so he sighed and looked at his two friends
