HAVING KJ AROUND THE TITANS TOWER FELT ALMOST GHOSTLY. It wasn't meant to be taken as an insult, but Jason had noticed that KJ was lacking a certain sort of energy ever since he arrived at the Titans tower.

He could've been laser-focused on the most mundane thing and have something still break his concentration. He was tired a lot of the time, sleepily stumbling into the kitchen as if he slept like shit even when he got a full eight hours. His blood circulation sucked ass (no offense), and Jason could feel KJ's freezing feet against his calves whenever they went to sleep. His hands would almost have a numb-purple kind of tint to his knuckles before they returned to a normal color a few hours later.

"You really should get that checked out," Jason muttered over a cup of coffee the next morning, nodding his head towards KJ's hands that were cradling a hot mug of his own. They were the only two in the kitchen, Rachel, Rose, and Gar were all still dead asleep, and the old Titans that had flown in last night were in town running errands.

"You know what they say: cold hands, warm heart," KJ grumbled back sarcastically, taking a sip of his own coffee (not that it mattered but he took it with a spoonful of cream and two sugars), "I thought you'd still be sleeping. Not really like you to be out of bed by eight a.m."

"People can change. Also, it's not easy trying to stay asleep next to a literal ice cube."

"And just when I thought you were concerned."

"I am concerned, KJ. I don't think I've ever seen this happen to you."

"Probably just a minor cold," KJ shrugged, taking another sip, "it's really not that big a deal."

"It is eighty degrees in San Francisco, why the fuck would you have a cold?"

KJ gave Jason a flat look. "Maybe tell that to the AC you keep at a consistent sixty-nine degrees."

"That's normal," Jason bit back, "a lot of hotels have their rooms set to that temperature. You know, to keep it from smelling like a sweatshop or something."

KJ couldn't help but scoff before taking a sip. "Like you ever set foot in a hotel."

Jason eyed him, a corner of his lips beginning to quirk up before getting up and making a show of shrugging, sliding over to stand next to KJ, almost invading his space if KJ wasn't so welcoming. "I mean, there was that one time when we—"

"Okay, you were the one who insisted on it," KJ was quick to interject, not needing to hear the rest of the sentence—he already knew where it was going, "you were the one who bought the room, if I recall correctly."

"I told you it was going to be a night to remember and look at that! You remember."

"It's kind of hard to forget your first time, no matter how good or bad it was."
