38 | highlighters

Start from the beginning

fixing the couch and calling nick and chris she had arrived.

"hey." he smiles waving as the girl sits on the cushions.

after a while of talking jolene gave her presents she got for the boys birthday, apparently she forgot indies gift at home.

indigo didn't mind, everyone forgets.

"so you like the gift matt." jolene batts her eyelashes.

"i-i love it." he didn't really, i mean who buys someone a dictionary for their birthday.

"that's great!"

"so as i was saying, you and indie are dating i find it so weird because i've never even seen you kiss or something." the blonde explains.

the two gulp down their saliva.

"when i have a boyfriend i'm always so touchy and stuff." she giggles.

indie twitch's her fingers scooting closer to him.

"we kiss." the redhead stutters.

"yeah." matt defends.

"prove it." jolene smirks.

what is this the fourth grade?

but indie nevertheless inched her face closer to matt's cheek.

and placing her red roses lips on his pale cold cheek.

it was a shock, a small one but still a shock.

"see." indigo smiles pulling away with a soft smile.

the girl nods going back to a conversation with chris and nick.

"i thought you said no kissing." matt mumbles into her ear.

"i kissed you cheek." she scoffs quietly.

"still a kiss." he laughs behind her auburn hair.

"consider it a late birthday gift." she whispers back.

"aren't i supposed to like my birthday gift?" the teen questions.

"pipe down loverboy, your still blushing." indigo giggles to him turning her full attention back to the conversation.

suddenly feeling a hand place on her thigh, indies breath hitches.

it was matt's palm obviously.

but he didn't do it for the comfort.

he did it because jolene was watching, because jolene was glaring, because jolene was there.

"i'm gonna get some water, does anyone want some?" the dawson girl asks while getting up.

"could i get a dr pepper please?" indie asks politely with a smile.

the blonde nods walking out with a sigh.

"oh my god." nick winces.

"i get second hand embarrassment from you guys." chris giggles.

"not like we're enjoying it." matt groans.

"i'm hungry, who wants mcdonald's?" indigo asks.

they all raise their hands,

"anyone know jolene's order?" she asks matt nods his head while grabbing the phone.

"so i was thinking we get the chicken nuggets with some..." indie trails her sentence off once seeing matt's eyes move by a body.

indie looks up.

jolene walks by, what a site for sore eyes.

"hey did you get the soda?" indie asks softly.

"oops!"

"i forgot i'm sorry." jolene laughs loudly.

matt laughs along.

what was so funny?

"oh uh it's fine." indie smiles along.

after a while the mcdonald's arrived and everyone sat on the table.

"god i love me some burgers." indie giggles grabbing the big mac.

"i can tell." jolene mumbles to herself, no one heard.

before indie could take a bite of
it matt push's her hair behind her ears so they wouldn't get into the food.

"which reminds me!" matt jumps.

"i got those highlighters you've been wanting." he tells grabbing the pack.

she talked about those last week.

how the hell did he remember.

matt sturniolo couldn't help it.

there are four things that make redhair jump into his mind once seeing.

the stars, colors, the beach and carrots.

he tried his best to wash away the ginger in his mind, but sadly it was just as stubborn as her.

plus he always remembers the little things, about anyone.

indie looked to thank him.

he was already staring.
