Hanji Zoe and Mikasa Ackerman are childhood best friends who grew up practically inseparable, sharing the same interests, whether it was in food, girls or movies, as well as sharing the same goals. Both of them dreamt big, fantasizing over the idea of them both getting into the top art school-the, the Riverbank University of arts. But only the most gifted were chosen; dedication and passion drove them to train restlessly for hours each week till it was time. Time to submit their audition entry. Desperate yet optimistic students have presented clips of their talents, ranging from their self-choreographed dances to heartfelt singing.

Hanji Zoe submitted a video of themselves getting lost in the song they composed; their love for music was evident in the way their fingers stroked the strings of the guitar and the way their eyes closed as they sang their hearts out.

Similarly, Mikasa Ackerman performed a piece on the piano, which she had also composed herself, her lyrics cut deeper than a knife itself and her song had an enchanting effect causing anyone who heard her play to sway along with the melodic tunes.

With their auditions submitted, all they could do was wait. And wait. And wait.

Finally, they got a response.

Both of them agreed not to open their results without the other present. So they kept their agreement and met at their high school library.

Cold sweat dripped down their face as goosebumps decorated their arms. Shaking, they both held their breaths as they clicked on the email.

''I would like to congratulate you on clearing the first round of auditions; your tapes have aroused the judges' curiosity. To complete the audition, send a second recording of you singing; the lyrics have to be original, meaningful and something personal.

Good luck and have fun.''

Hanji and Mikasa celebrated before returning to training. They prepared their auditions together, exchanging ideas and critiques to present the judges with an audition that highlights their best aspects and their finest qualities.

Hanji present two songs for Mikasa; they asked which song they should choose:

Outlines of new eyes and visions of you

Girl, I think I need a minute

To figure out what is, what isn't

These choices and voices, they're all in my head

Sometimes you make me feel crazy

Sometimes I swear I think you hate me like, uh

I need a walk, I need a walk, I need to get outta here

'Cause I need to know

Who are you?'

Cause you're not the girl I fell in love with, baby

Who are you?

'Cause something has changed, you're not the same,

I hate it
