You can't believe it is just 3 days until you and your boyfriend, PonyBoy are the same age!
Surely he wouldn't forget. Would he?
You go over to the Curtis house trying not to act as excited as you are. Greasers are tuff and our are the tuffest female greaser your age. And tuff greasers don't get excited unless it is a rumble or a fight. Much less a birthday.
You don't even think Dally knows when his birthday is anymore. Or if he even had one to begin with.
You subtly hint that in a few days it is your birthday. No one gets the hint. You are deeply disappointed by your gang forgetting something important to you.
A few days later on you birthday
You walk into the Curtis house, just like every morning.   Nothing new, until you realize there is no one there. You yell the names of your gang.
Just as you were about to leave the Two-Bit jumps out from behind the couch and yells SURPRISE! Pony brings out your favorite kind of cake with 20 candles on it 19 for your age, one for good luck.
Once you finish the best cake you've ever eaten Pony says he has a surprise for you. He gets a small box out of his pocket, kneels on one knee and asks you to marry him.
You start to cry happy tears. You throw your arms around him and yell YES! At the top of your lungs.
"Happy birthday babe," he says to you.
"This was the best birthday ever, Pony thank you. And to think I thought you forgot." The rest of the gang looks away. They obviously forgot.
You and Pony kiss passionately for a while knowing you have sealed your true love!
