I walk through the halls, I can hear whispers about me. Things like, I heard he can't talk, I heard his girlfriend broke up with him on his birthday, I heard he got thorns shoved up his braces in second grade. Two truths and a lie. I'll let you figure that out for yourself.
"Watch out! Coming through! Sorry!" I hear a voice say down the hall. I recognize it, Willow Meadows, the usually quiet girl. Wonder why she's screaming and running down the halls like a maniac.
I continue walking to class when I hear Willow and some other guy whispering.
Willow points to the storage closet. "I heard a rumor that there's something in there, so I checked it out, and there's a door!"
"Willow, you can't be serious. There's nothing in there. It's locked!" The guy jossels the doorknob.
"You've just gotta pick the lock. I've got a bobby pin right here-"
"No! We are not breaking into anything! Remember what happened last time?" The guy cuts her off.
"Yes, but we're in a school. The owner of the barbershop only caught us because he was still in there, closing things up. The principal is in another room!"
"It's still a no Willow, I'm leaving."
"No no no! Jackson! Wait!" Willow screams. She drops the bobby pin and chases after him.
What could be so important in that storage closet?
I think about it for a couple of minutes, and decide to check out what's in there, despite having class in about 2 minutes.
I take the fallen bobby pin, bend it so I can pick the lock, and shove it in. The lock falls to the ground.
I open the door and see nothing but old decorations and stuff so the janitor can clean the halls.
I hear footsteps and start to panic. I move some stuff over and hide myself with small items I found.
The door opens, and I peek through the supplies I covered myself with to find Willow.
"Hello? Anybody in here?" Willow looks around, digging through the piles of supplies.
She gets to the pile I'm in. She starts digging, and I'm out of the supplies.
"Kyler? What are you doing here?" Willow pulls me up.
"I heard there was something in here. Rumors you know?"
"Wait you actually speak? I thought you were mute." She pulls another bobby pin out of her pocket. "You can go now by the way. I don't even think the rumor is true." She turns around and starts fidgeting with the bobby pin.
"One, I can speak, two there is something in here... and you know it."
"What are you talking about! I've never been in here, and why do you think so?"
I pause. "Rumors..."
"Okay, you clearly heard something." She turns to face me.
I stop speaking, because I know I'll say something stupid.
"What did you hear, and who did you hear it from." She holds the bent bobby pin to my chest.
I hesitate in fear. "Okay okay! I heard it from you. Since you were running down the halls, I'm surprised nobody else came to see what was going on."
"I wasn't that obvious."
"Yes, yes you were."
She sighs. "Okay well you can't tell anyone about this. Unless it's Jackson. He's trustworthy."
"Oh no I'm coming with you." I say, eager to know what she's trying to unlock in the storage closet.
"No! Why would you want to come with me."
"Its either I come with you, or I tell the whole school about this place."
"Sir you haven't talked to people in so long they think your mute." She puts her hands on her hips.
"Hey! You don't talk much either."
"Atleast I say things to people." She starts digging again. "Fine you can come with. Just don't tell anyone about this place.
"Deal" I shake her hand.
"Well... I found the door again." She uncovers a door hidden behind all the janitors cleaning things.
"Holy crap." It was glowing, a faded orange color.
Willow puts the bobby pin in, and opens the door. It didn't look like much, only some armchairs, string lights, and more various items that look like they could be from my living room.
Willow puts the bobby pin away. "Well this was disappointing."
"Might aswell have some fun while we're here though." I smile and take a television remote from the table.
Willow smiles back at me, and I look at what's on live TV.
"There's nothing good on here." I sigh, but she changes it to a different TV service.
We both gasp. "Shark!"
I look at Willow, and we both start laughing. "Shark is my favorite movie."
"Mine too!" We continue to laugh, and then put the movie on.
