Can't do what?

Mathsssssssss T_T

Are you by any chance asking me to come and help you?

His reply is just a slew of puppy-eyed emojis. Nobody mentally sane would give up on a good book for maths, but you can't help but worry for your best friend. If he gets other bad grades he risks an expulsion from the basketball team, and it's definitely not the case for Yosen to start Winter Cup without its ace. Therefore, you get ready and go to Murasakibara's house, that is luckily pretty close to yours.

"(Name-chin), you're finally here!"

"You should build me a statue for coming here to make equations with you with this cold outside."

"I don't have statues, but I'll share my snacks with you."

Knowing how much it costs to him to do that it looks like a good compromise to you – even though you wouldn't have despised a beautiful statue made of Carrara marble...

You both sit at the living room's table and start studying. You show Murasakibara the notes you took during lectures and try to fit into his head the types of quadratic equations and the ways to solve them. Contrary to your expectations the giant learns quickly, and after a hour and a half spent writing and eating junk food he manages to solve the exercises for the following day.

"I finally made it!"

"Hey, we made it!"

"True. Thanks, (name-chin). I wouldn't have managed to solve them without you."

"Don't worry, the important thing is for you not to get a bad grade in the next exam. But for now, let's stop thinking about maths. It's time to relax."

"Agree." – Murasakibara answers.

You wake up thinking about lying on the sofa and playing videogames, but apparently Murasakibara has different plans for you: he suddenly crouches in front of you turning his back.

"...Sushi?"

"Hop on."

You stare at him surprised, while flashbacks of middle school appear in your mind.

"Come on, (name-chin)."

Puzzled, you jump on his shoulders just like you used to do during your Teiko days: back then you would have freaked out if Murasakibara had spontaneously offered himself to carry you on his shoulders. When you're set, the boy carries you up the stairs until you reach his room, he then opens the door and gets in.

"Sushi, why are we going to your bedroom while I'm on your shoulders?"

Without answering you he just turns to the opposite side so that you're now facing the wall where you came from. You look around until you notice a sheet of paper stuck on the wall, just above the doorjamb. A sheet of paper that reads: "Would you be my girlfriend?"

You gasp and cover your mouth: you can't believe your eyes. Murasakibara ducks again to let you get down but then he doesn't turn to face you: he knew that it was time to ask you that, but now that he's actually done it, he feels like he's just made the worst mistake of his life, to the point that he doesn't even dare to look at you. You smile behind his back, struggling to contain the joy of knowing that the person you've always loved since middle school returns your feelings. To be completely honest, you had almost given up on the idea of becoming his girlfriend: you thought that you didn't interest him and that he would not confess either way due to his confidential nature. But today he surprised you, using a sweet and nostalgic method to give voice to his feelings.

You grab his hand and invite him to turn towards you. When he does so, the sight is super tender: he has red cheeks and his gaze pointed downwards. You stand on your tiptoes and cup his cheeks to make him look at you.

"Of course!"

In an instant his face brightens up and in spite of getting redder he shows a wonderful smile. He lifts you up by your hips and you wrap your legs around his body, hugging him in return until you share your first kiss.

"I love you, Sushi."

"I love you too, (name-chin)."

A nice fluff chapter after the previous oneshot was necessary, so I decided to write one for our sweet (literally) Murasakibara. Hope you liked it! :)

Song used in the title: You raise me up - Josh Groban. The title is on point and there's literally a line that says "I am strong when I am ON YOUR SHOULDERS", this is definitely the right song (I know the song is actually intended in a religious way, hope I didn't offend anyone adapting its meaning to my story!). Also, a song like this adds character to a pretty light oneshot, a new depth to the seemingly trivial thing of being on someone's shoulders.
