Briar's POV:

Bright light streamed through my bedroom windows, nearly blinding me as I sat up and stretched. I looked around my room before fumbling on my bedside table for my glasses. In my early morning grogginess, I knocked them to the floor.

"Shit!" I mumbled, reaching my arm as far as it could go to reach them, and only pushing them under my bed in the process. I guess I have to get up now.

Once my feet hit the floor though, I instantly regretted it. The floor was ice cold. I gasped, and hopped from foot to foot around the room. A slight knock on the door interrupted me from my crazed hopping and I froze.

"Briar? You okay in there? You're making quite the ruckus." Harry's deep British accent spoke through the door. Well, this was awkward.

"Uh yeah. I'm fine, just a bit cold is all." I cursed at myself for being so awkward, and waited for his response.

"Just checking. I'm going to go grab some breakfast... want something?"

"Yeah sure... Can I have a breakfast sandwich with the bacon, egg, and cheese please? Thanks!" I heard his footsteps slowly disappear, and I was thankful.
I turned to my dresser and closet, determined to pick out the cutest outfit I could. Since winter is fast approaching, it is often extremely chilly, so I decide on black leggings, a soft light pink sweater, and a pair of pink uggs to match. To top it all off, I threw my curly mop of hair into a donut bun (or a sock bun) and placed a headband with pearls around my head and a matching necklace. I looked in the mirror, frowning.
"Do I look okay?" I mumbled to the stray cat who has become my own pet, sitting on my fire escape. His name is Oasis. He's just a chubby, fluffy, gray little cat, who showed up one day and hasn't left. I leave him food and water, but he usually catches the mice from the alley, and doesn't always eat it. I drew my attention back to the mirror and still questioned my looks. I wasn't a skinny little twig like most girls. I have a lot of muscle and I'm curvy, so fitting into smalls and sometimes even mediums is a tough job. But I don't let it get in the way. I force myself to smile at my reflection, grab my phone, and walk out of the room.
Sitting down on the couch, I text Elizabeth to see what she is doing.
"Sorry babe, can't hang today! I can't seem to find a sitter... Where's Harry?" I groaned at her response, and texted back a quick "he's getting food. It's fine love" before looking through my contacts. My finger stops on Audrey, my best friend. I haven't talked to her in a while, and we desperately need to catch up. I text her a quick hey and wait for her response.

Harry arrives with the food about thirty minutes later, and I'm starving.
"This is so good! Thank you!" I close my eyes as I chew my food, glad to have something in my empty stomach. Harry chuckles and eats his own sandwich.
"What's on your mind?" I ask, "you seem a little distressed."
"Oh, well a friend of mine wants to hang out today but I don't want to leave you alone."
"It's okay! I think my friend Audrey is coming over and we might go shopping. I'm all good!"
"Okay..." Harry sighs, "but text me if something happens!" I nod as he stands up and grabs his keys, waving goodbye as he walks out the door.
My phone vibrates twice- a text- and I open it.
"Hey! How have you been? We haven't texted in ages!!" Audrey responds.
"I'm good! You? You know what, why don't we talk in person. Meet me at the mall in ten? We need some girl time to catch up!" She replies with a yes, and I smile, excited to be reunited with my best friend again.
