Me and Trees

I am like a tree.

Though my body is not strong with bark,
And the wind doesn't make my flesh sway,
I am like a tree,
In a very simple way.

The wind makes me bend and sway,
Dancing in merriment of the winds whispering music.

I twist and grow,
My mind and heart changing with the season of my leaves,
My roots hold me still,
As I grow bark for sleeves.

For I am like a tree.

I take in the animals to house,
The poor creatures that need a home,
I provide my branches,
And give the creatures so.

I grow tall as I bathe in water and light,
Leaching my strength from sun so bright.

As I grow the trees around me shall rot,
I shall grow,
And shrivel not.

I am like a tree.

For when my day has come and turns long,
My birds shall sing a mourning song.
But alas I'm not fully gone,
My saplings shall grow and live on.
