Part 48 - goodbye

He nodded sadly, "I know."

We ate our pancakes and discussed our futures for a while. We finished them and washed the dishes. He got ready to go. I smiled up at him as we held hands and stood in the kitchen, "okay, so maybe we could do the emotional part here, so I'm not sobbing at the airport."

He laughed, "sounds like a plan."

"Okay, Joshua Bassett, you are the most talented person I know, honestly. You are an amazing singer and you are insanely creative. You are the sweetest boy I've ever met, not to mention you're adorable."

He chuckled, "I know."

I rolled my eyes, "let me finish, you butt." He nodded with a smile. "Oh, geez." I felt my eyes welling with tears. Josh rubbed his wiped the tear from my face as it fell down. My voice shook, "you are my life, Josh. You're my world. I know we've only known each other for like-"

"6 months. Oh my gosh, our anniversary! We forgot!"

I gasped, "it was your birthday when we started dating, so-"

"Today. Today is our 6-month anniversary."

"Wow." Was all I could say. "Well, happy anniversary, baby." I smiled.

He laughed, "thank you, and same to you, darling. Okay, continue with your speech."

I laughed, "okay, so where was I? Oh! Okay, I know we haven't known each other for very long, but I do love you more than anything, Josh. And you've changed my life for the better. I have been changed for good."

"Was that a Wicked reference?"

"Yes, of course it was." I laughed, "I was Elphaba if you didn't know." I said, fake-bragging.

"Well I was Fiyero for like 1 day, so I'm basically better."

I rolled my eyes with a smile. "So, be safe in New York. Call me everyday. Break a leg on Broadway. And I love you, more than anything."

"I love you too, baby. I mean you basically summed it all up. I'm absolutely in love with you and excited for our future together. We're getting married right when you finish college and I get back, so be prepared for that." I laughed as he continued, "you be careful, have fun in school. I will call you everyday."

"Sounds good." I smiled, sadly. He quickly picked up a post-it note, kissed it, and stuck it on the wall. I raised my eyebrows.

He shrugged, "now whenever you want to kiss me, you can just kiss that."

I almost started crying again, "Joshy, that is so cute." I giggled, making one for him too. "Just make sure to not get a paper cut."

He laughed, "yup, you too."

"Oh, babe?" I asked him.

"Yeah?"

"Do you have Franklin?"

He smiled, "I do! And you have Josh Junior?" He asked.

"Yes." I smiled.

"Send me pictures of him."

"Send me pics of you and Franklin." I smiled.

"Oh, one more thing." He said.

"Yes?" I asked.

He pulled my chin close to his gently with his fingers and kissed it. *imagine the first portwell kiss* I naturally put my hands in his curly hair and he had his cupping my face. We kissed for a while. Like a long time. We both pulled away. "I love you so much, y/n l/n." I saw the tears edging out of his eyes.

"Love you too, Joshua Bassett." I drove Josh to the airport and I waited with him until he boarded his plane.

I looked up at him right before boarding, "be safe, I love you, maybe watch West Side Story on the plane?"

He nodded, chuckling a little, "good idea, got to be Tony by the time I get to New York."

"Totally." I smiled, sadly.

"I love you, y/n."

"I love you too, Joshua." I put my arms around his neck and we both squeezed each other tightly, not wanting to let go. He lifted me up, kissed my forehead, and set me down.

Once we eventually let go, Josh said "Bye, Y/n." He boarded the plane and blew me a kiss. I blew one back.

"Text me when you get there! Love you!" I smiled through my tears, waving to him.

He waved back with a smile and mouthed the words 'love you!'
