HanYang, Kingdom of Joseon
The sun shined brightly in the ever so crowded but still joyful kingdom of Joseon. Today though as the citizen's woke up and started with their usual daily routines there was suddenly this feeling of excitement that surged through and lingered over the morning air.
It had been a year and a half since 'Lee Yeong' was entrusted by the people to sit on the dragon throne. For that 1 and a half years since he became king, Yeong had showed and proved that the people indeed made the right choice to trust him and have him lead them towards a better future and progress for the kingdom of Joseon.
Back to the present, the people all crowded over the wooden announcement boards as the royal guards swiftly paste on the freshly calligraphed rice papers that basically laid out an important announcement from the king for his subjects.
As the crowd read the words, some gasped and even cheered. Considering the reaction, there was no doubt to anyone from the distance that it was good news.
'This is a good blessing for our kingdom.... Her majesty, the queen is expecting.'
'It hasn't even been 1 year yet.... Our king is definitely blessed and righteous that is why the heavens are blessing him endlessly with such great news.'
The people blabbered on cheerfully as they celebrated the news. From the side, a young man wearing a grayish- black tunic walked towards the announcement board after hearing the conversation of the 2 older ladies in front of him.
It was none other than Kim ByungYeon, the king's greatest friend whom still remains in hiding as he watched over his friend in a distance. He was evidently much more masculine than ever, his hair still growing and covering his face as he would always prefer it.
Reading the announcement, ByungYeon's eyes widen in surprise. But a gentle smile cracks onto his face as he turned back and adjusts his black satgat (straw hat) to leave the vicinity.
The announcement which had everyone gushing read
"It is with my greatest joy and happiness that I shall be the one to personally address each of my subjects with this most precious and blessed announcement.
I am pleased to announce that my wife, your queen is carrying life and due to this joyful news and blessing that has suddenly come into my life. I am granting each of our citizens a sack of rice and food enough to convey my gratitude to you and for your love and support towards the government and also my family.
As soon as more great news is to come, I shall share it with you all wholeheartedly. The queen expresses her love and gratitude to the people and so do I."
The announcement was straightforward, sweet and also personal. This was one of the greatest reasons as to why the people all loved Yeong, He had a way to make everyone feel as if he knew them all personally. In other words, he was not a king whom was always disconnected. In fact, he was the king of the people. A king who knew how to love and care for each one of his subjects.
And just so you didn't get the announcement ...,
Yes!!! Lee Yeong is married, 5 months ago a royal wedding took place in the grand palaces at Hanyang.
Just 1 year into his reign, Lee Yeong married his first and only love 'Hong RaOn'. After going through so much up's and downs, the young king had never loosed hope and with much persistence and determination he had successfully made the love of his life.... His dearest queen.
RaOn was a wise queen, the people had accepted her immediately as the announcement was made exactly 5 months ago that the king had intended to marry the only woman he has in his heart.
She was everything that Joseon had needed, she was free, kind, loving, beautiful and more but most importantly, she was the only person who knew and pretty much understood Yeong the best.
The marriage was immediately consummated, as most royal marriages would do. The duty of the queen was to produce an heir for the continuity of the Lee lineage. Although, to be quite honest Yeong hardly cared or put into his priorities the produce an heir part. He simply was ecstatic to finally release all his pent-up restrictions towards her. (🤣)
Finally !!! he could show the world how much he loves her and no one can ever judge the two of them ever again.
This was yet another beginning for Lee Yeong's reign and also a blessing and gift from the heavens just proving how deserving of a king he is to rule and uphold the responsibilities of the heavy duties of a monarch.
